We are now into the second decade of the twenty first century. Going through my recent Nosler Reloading Guide and Cartridges Of The World I noticed that quite a few new cartridges were introduced over the last ten years. Here is a partial list: .204 Ruger, 243WSSM, .270WSM, 338Federal, 325WSM, 450Marlin, 500S&W. There are others.

While it might be too early to tell which of these rounds will succeed and which ones will fail, we can still speculate.

Of all the new calibers introduced in the last ten years, which one do you think will be the most successful? Do you think any of them will be complete failures?

I think many of these new cartridges are silly. How many different versions of short 30 caliber cartridges do we need? The 450 Marlin? What is wrong with the .45-70 Government? The .270 Winchester Short magnum on the other hand does seem to fill a void. There are not many cartridges designed around this caliber, so having another option makes sense.

So, what do you guys think about all these new-fangled cartridges of the last ten years? Are you impressed by any of them?

I find it cool that some could argue the most popular caliber and pistol today is the same from 100 years ago.
