THE HORROR!!!!! I just MISSED buying 9 NIW USGI M14 mags for only $199 (that's $22 each!!!!!!!)

They were being sold here
http://www.subguns.com/classifieds/...results_format=long&db_id=297&query=retrieval

I e-mailed the guy, but got no response for 3 days....so I sent an email through another address and that finally got a response! It seems that the guy was just so fed up with selling M14 mags that THIS is what happened!!!!!! All I can say is PLEASE DON'T TRASH VALUABLE M14 MAGS INTO AR10 ONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blain,

Shotgun News lists M14 mags at $50 to $55 plus shipping.
So I advertised $45 and free shipping: NOTHING
Then $35: Lots of requests for photos (they don't know what paper over
Cosmoline looks like)
Then $25: Won't buy unless they know the manufacturers stamp under the
Cosmoline (contrary to the bull (changed from curse), most US makers never stamped anything)
Then I got disgusted, and the whole lot went for cheap to the first guy who
skips the dumbass questions that put Cosmoline under my fingernails!

I have another 20 magazines in good used condition, BUT....
If the potential buyers of new mags just want to kick the tires and
bull (changed from curse),
And if the potential buyers are convinced that a used mag marked "Pfc Smith"
in red ink is not USGI because it lacks a Winchester/H&R/TRW stamp,
And if I can't even get $25 for $50 mags,
THEN TO HELL WITH THEM!

1. Strip down the M14 mag to recover the floorplate ( that thin sliver of
metal that makes it a pre-ban mag) and the spring
2. Polish, then reparkerize the floorplate at the kitchen stove burner.
3. Add a $30 Armalite AR-10 magazine conversion
4. Trash the rest of the M14 mag
5. Sell an AR10 mag for $60, in a market where they are worth $85 after a 2
month backorder.

Give me about a month, and you can buy up to (20) mags for $60 each plus
shipping. The M14 magazine giblets are free if you buy the AR10 mag.

This has been a pain in the butt (changed from curse) for over a month. I sold two M14 rifles at a
good price, but the magazines have a bullcrap (changed from curse) resale price. After the last M14 mag becomes an AR10 mag, the M14 owners will have gotten what they deserve: guns with 10 round mags!

Please, please, PLEASE tell me your subject is not a reference to "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad....

Your subject sounded similar to a quote by a character (Kurtz) from "Heart of Darkness." It was a boring, boring book that I had to read for American Literature in 11th grade. And yes, "Apocalypse Now" is based on "Heart of Darkness."
