As some of you have seen, I have been looking at Rock Island Tacticals, Match, and STI Spartans. I knew the CD was pretty much a Rock Island Tactical, but seems to be a bit more expensive.

Well, I found this new one, and has had some upgraded parts added to it. It was a project the seller lost intrest in, and never shot it.

Shipping was dropped to $15 since he lives just across the state line.

Seems like a pretty good deal, any thoughts.......but don't hurt my feelings:uhoh:

Looks Great. Congrats. You just got a $600 pistol for $400.

I don't know too much about 1911's as I just got my first recently. I have read some skeptical points about the FL guide rod though.

Also, remove the wood grips before a good cleaning. Especially if using a strong solvent like Nitro Solvent. I learned that lesson the hard way:banghead:

Make sure to post a Range Report:D

I put a Glock 26 up for trade less than a month ago. Initially, I wanted a Taurus PT1911. Someone offered me a custom built Norinco.

I took the plunge and am very happy. The accuracy of these pistols is amazing.

Here is a link to the pics I posted in the "1911 Club" thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showpost.php?p=4807591&postcount=37

It's post # 37. You should bump the thread up with some pics:D

SureThing; that's a pretty gun.

CD's are made of ARMSCOR parts. You got a good deal on the price, as they sell a little higher than that.

And it may be worth more as a collectors item someday, since they've discontinued business with ARMSCOR. They had to drop ARMSCOR because CD couldn't compete with RIA's prices for the very same gun.

p.s. CD will still honor their customer service for these guns.:)

I has some parts added.

Chip McCormick extended mag release, STI commander style hammer, and Ed Brown match grade sear.

I know what the extended mag release does, but what does the hammer and match grade sear do?

Decent gun at a decent price. CD's are trash talked by a lot of folks, and that reputation came from some spotty QC in the first couple of years they were being imported. The issues were resolved for the most part, and they are a decent entry level 1911 with features not found on a RIA GI. You did fine.

They appear to be a RI Tactical. With a different finish, polished barrel, and checkered grips.

More or less. The CD's have been around longer, but they are essentially the same gun.

Hey, is there a cheap front sight with a white dot that I can use with the same rear sight?

Hey, is there a cheap front sight with a white dot that I can use with the same rear sight?

There is front sight to do just about anything you can imagine for a 1911. You can get them in .010 to .015" increments in height. You can even buy front sights that are over-height so you can file/grind it to POA/POI. Get Brownell's or Midway's catalog, what the heck, get both.

Congrats on the 1911.
