The last stake being driven into Bushmaster...

The Bushmaster brand name was already doomed after the Beltway sniper trial publicity and subsequent lawsuits; that a Bushmaster rifle was also used by the Newtown/Sandy Hook shooter only confirmed to the anti-gun factions that anything with that name was pure evil. It's the anti-AR bias plain and simple with a specific manufacturer targeted. (Although no one went after Daniel Defense after Las Vegas; apparently, affordable, more "available" weapons are an easier "target.")

Conversely, Glocks being a weapon of choice for so many other "mass shooters" hasn't negatively impacted that manufacturer's reputation or sales.

Another $5000ish range toy. Nothing exciting in the realm of new offerings as they make it out to be. With Remington issues recently it makes me wonder who will put up that kind of money when other products have similar pricetags but better reputations. It is sad to kill off bushy but it was the Pontiac of the firearm world anyway.

I remember reading about that particular Bushmaster gun in "Soldier of Fortune" magazine many, many years ago! I think the back half of the gun could swivel from side to side and was based on an earlier prototype called the Sidewinder. Supposedly it was designed for use by helicopter crews as a compact survival weapon which could use AR15 magazines.

REMEMBER: When you offer a new anything for $4500, why ever show more then one photo:what:?
I mean, one of the features is left bolt, right ejection OK I'll bit a pic of the left side maybe please?

Same thing on a boating forum. Hello my name is ''HarryX'' 1st post, buy my 2018 25' boat for $40,000 reduced for quick sale.'' NO PICS

Just look up pictures of the BA-50. Same gun. But yes I get you point though Remington marketing at their finest.

IMHO this has little with "introducing" a new product but simple purging the last remnants of Bushmaster from the catalog. The BA-50 is not a large volume sale but it is a steady seller with a nice profit margin for them so they want to keep making and selling it but have to get the Bushmaster name off it. This new name might give them a minor up-tic in sales for a few months but is primarily to drive that final stake in Bushmaster.

Will be interesting to see if they try to rename the 450 Bushmaster cartrdge. Remington has done that once or twice in the past too.

Nothing like a PC banks running a gun company...

Shows the level of employees running the company... too green to post good pictures, or to post a staged and interesting picture. Likely his manager is green, and then that managers manager is green... oh and they all work for big green... Remington needs to either right the ship or scuttle.

If you want a "real" Bushmaster, go to Windham Weaponry.

Same owner, same plant and same employees as the original Bushmaster.

Never had an issue with Remington's Bushmaster until they killed it... I have several AR's built in large part from Bushmaster, DPMS and AAC parts and they all worked fine for me. I think of my seven AR's I have one is a RRA (My first), a Spikes (My first self build), a DPMS, 3 Bushmasters, and one Remington lower. All but the RRA was built by me using DPMS or Bushmaster parts kits.

Bushmaster is closed, period, and has been. If this a “stake being driven into Bushmaster,” it’s simply driving a lawn stake in the grass which has already grown over Bushmaster’s grave.

Agreed, it just sort of a blatant "disrepect" of the Bushmaster grave if you could actually disrespect the brand more than the killing it they already did. The BA-50 a long time Bushmaster product that the current Remington owners felt was still PC enough to sell gets "released" as a new Remington product when everyone with any exposure to Bushmaster knows what they are doing. I get it and yet it is still very lame at the same time IMHO.

Bushmaster's already dead and the company that owned them decided to keep something. Who cares? It's just business.

I could never get over their initial offering.

I don't care for the "pistol" version of this but the original "Bushmaster Assault Rifle" is on my wishlist. It's one of those things that's so ugly it's cute.

I do wish I'd gotten an ACR prior to those prices spking after they were discontinued. I do have one of the "real" old Bushmasters though :D.

The ACR was always a pig. It was so heavy for the capabilities even if a nice selection of conversion kits had become available. And the quick-barrel-change trunnion being screwed and pinned to the upper never resulted in good accuracy. Things always moved, barrel in trunnion, trunnion in upper. I saw very few sub 1.5 MOA ACRs in my experience that did not have the Rem Defense fixed barrel trunnion installed and even then it was spotty and I don't think many of those made it out to the public.
