The lexicon "platform"

Hm. So were one to say the "AK family" of rifles, would one be using a concept synonymous with "AK platform?"

I find the evolution of words interesting. Near as I can tell the "platform" in reference to rifles is a relatively recent development. But then I remember when heterosexuals would say they felt "gay," and that had an entirely different meaning then as well.

I remember using, and still do use, "swell" to mean... well, "swell". I hear folks using "bad" when they mean "good," and other developments.

Pretty much. AK platform, pattern, style, family, type, and so on.
