re: the 1911 - It used to shoot great, BarSto match barel,etc.. The aborted checking job was mine, BarSto barrel fitted by BarSto, the black finish was from ROBAR, videki trigger, Hoag sights with a silver soldered front sight, Swensen ambi safety (got it from Armand).

Andrew like others have said, what a great story
and beautiful firearm. Yes, you are very forunate that
the model 37 is a square butt model; cuz as you might
know or have suspected, those no longer come down
the pike! Many thanks for sharing the story and the

uncle paul: You don't have to can it. It looks like i'll need one, since dad stole the kydex holster i was making for myself.

The 1911 still shoots great. I ended up replacing the grip panels with some thin micarta smith and alexander ones, and it fits my hand better and looks nice. You aughta come over for dinner sometime.
