The not-so-Finer Points of City Living.

Family moved off the farm to the city when I was seven. Fifty two years later the wife and I moved back to the farm. I've got a three hundred yard range in the back yard and no neighbors closer than 3/4 mile. No way would I ever consider moving back to the city.

Favorite pastime is setting on the patio and shooting blackbirds. I feel for you city shooters who don't know what you're missing. I feel truly fortunate.

Guns and beer DONT mix.
Is it really necessary to post a new thread evertime you make a post on your blog? I mean i enjoy peoples enthusiasm, But it gets annoying at a certain point when its a repeating theme.

Das .... um ... how can i put this... if you don't like them, don't read em. It's a free country.

P.S. "A" Beer ... it's not beer that doesn't mix with things, it is drunkenness.

To Das and Killchain: If you didn't like the post move along, and when I make future posts... here's a WILD idea, don't read them!! No one is asking you to troll all the threads, pick out the ones you don't like and slander the authors of said threads. I apologize for being very excited about my new hobby and wanting to share that excitement with other (supposedly) like minded individuals.

What's that Liikeaboss? You mean that this forum tells me who the original poster of a thread was so that I can avoid threads that I may not like and or find annoying? That's wild!!!

Yes guys that's exactly what I'm saying. It's totally fine that you don't like my threads I can definitely appreciate that you find them abrasive and/or annoying. But that doesn't mean you need to comment on it... just avoid them.

"...Dead link..." Worked for me and you didn't miss a thing.
"...Guns and beer DONT mix..." Certainly not together. The site lets you post a comment with a UN & E-mail address. Not entirely if using my regular e-mail to tell him he's an unsafe idiot was a good idea though. Let ya'll know.

Guys. I'm not going to be the catalyst to a childish internet argument here. If you don't like my posts, then don't read them. It is quite simple.

P.S. The Beer and Potato salad are a literary metaphor used to project the relaxation and enjoyment possible when you can shoot in your own backyard anytime you want. I am in no way advocating drunken gun-play, this is clearly ridiculous. I am sorry my post offended you guys so much. Again, If you don't like my posts, simply do not read them, it is the easiest way to insure I no longer annoy you with my enjoyment of the sport of shooting.

I generally don't. :p

You're advertising your blog, and complaining about feedback concerning it?

I say check your "private" box if it bugs you.

Didn't a wise man once say, "What you put on the internet isn't secret?"

"...I am in no way advocating..." Nope. Not entirely sure about your point though. If you want to point out a twit, say that.
"...The Beer and Potato salad are a literary metaphor..." Not the way it's written by Daniel. Literature it isn't. Not you either. "This is what happens when you give a nerd a gun" Him, not you.
"...The site lets you post a comment with a UN & E-mail..." That lets you yell at him directly.

lol. Sunray. ummmm. Him=Me. I am Daniel. And just for the record, I have never at any time used alcohol or any other substance while operating a firearm (or doing anything else with one for that matter). Furthermore, I am extremely serious about gun safety both in my home and outside of it. I take the ownership of firearms very seriously and work hard to fight the stigma that gun people are all "ignorant, unsafe heathens" (or insert your own gun lover stereotype here) You should be careful not to rush to judgment on an individual so quickly based on such a small amount of evidence. Again, I apologize that my post upset you all so much. I've been very glad to be a part of the THR community and have the opportunity to ask questions and have a report with those like yourself who know far more about this topic than myself, and I look forward to those interactions in the future. Again, If you don't like me or my posts that is perfectly fine, but you don't have to read them.

In case you hadn't noticed yet (which I'm sure you have, lulz) the folks especially around here are *very* quick to point out any inaccuracy even in "fixed terms" like we crazy!@# language people call these things.
So while we all know that you very much most likely do not sit there, get blindly drunk then proceed to shoot firearms in an unsafe manner, I really don't think this is the place to (let's face it) waste your literary juices.
I am in the same boat as you, since I am a bit of a flowery talker, too and not too fond of what I call "formula writing" and have to very seriously restrain myself when I write on these forums. When you want to have fun with the language, this is not the place to be. I kinda consider this the science community of the gun world. They really are incapable of tongue-in-cheek or je-ne-sais-quoi phrasing.

*le wink*

No major dig against you fine forum folks, but humor truly is not our collective strong point.

Daniel,

I liked the post. It's easy to take things for granted when you live in the country. I live in the city, but own a farm about 45 minutes away from here. I stay in town through the week and escape to the boondocks on weekends. I'd rather be out there all the time, but like you, I enjoy being a short drive from work and delivery food and movie theaters and ...

I ain't trying to pick no fight, but is there an English translation for this?

The English translation of "I ain't trying to pick no fight, but is there an English translation for this?" is "I am trying to pick a fight." :neener:

No, I'm really not. I promise. I never play the angry grammarian, but I simply couldn't understand chunks of Nushif's post.

Maybe I'm just dense, or maybe I'm not up-to-date on my Internet jargon, or maybe parts of the post were typographical errors I'm just not clever enough to decipher. In any case, I didn't get it.

I've lived both places, and the deciding factor isn't firearms, but instead the frustration of the small world view by rural folks. There are exceptions, but in general their world is incredibly small and white. Just not for me.
