I just wanted others not to loose sight of the qualities of the Norinco 1911's. I know they are no longer imported into the USA, but used ones are still available for around $400.00.

I think they are a steal even at $400.00. I have slightly modified mine and have shot it quite a lot. It just seems to get better the more I shoot it. As stated by others, the quality of the steel of these pistols is some of the best, if not the best available. My particular Norinco is a real shooter to, extremely accurate and reliable with any type of ammo.

I really like mine. My modest customization was a drop in beaver tail, new Springfield barrel, replaced all the springs, STI hammer, grip panels, and a trigger job. Its a great shooter.

Nice looking norcs everyone. I tried posting pics of my norinco but they dont seem to work. Can I PM anyone and send it via email and post it here for me?

Edmorales - If im not mistaken yours is the police model? Its still stock, right?

I see "MADE IN CHINA" stamped on the slide. Can I get one at Walmart? Maybe lead coated? Just kidding...I'd buy one myself, but have not seen one at the shows. Nice piece.

I have long touted the Norincos, and made it a point to examine every one that I could find. Along toward the end of my run, I began to notice some barrel problems with insufficient vertical lug engagement...which beat the lugs to Helen Gone in fairly short order.

If you're considering a used Chinese clone...inspect the lugs carefully for deformation at the front top corners. If you buy an unused example...keep an eye peeled for the same. It normally starts to show up quickly...within the first 500 rounds of so, and there's no way to fix it once it's done. A new barrel is the only option, and it most likely will require a full hard-fit barrel rather than a Kart Easy-Fit or a Storm Lake or Nowlin semi drop-in.
