I have several 1911's by various manufacturers. I had 2 Norinco's through the years, sold them off, and recently bought a used one on Gunbroker. Mine shoots reliably and quite accurately for an out of the box 1911 clone.

I think these are great guns for the money (bought mine for $350.00, plus shipping and FFL fees, under $400.00).

I am using my Norinco as a base for a mildly customized 1911 platform. Any other Norinco owners out there?

Right here! I own two, and love em both. Both have been worked on by Ed Vandenberg of Vandenberg Custom in Houston, TX. If you do a search you can probably find my pics/reviews of each of them.

I think Norincos are great 1911s, and definitely awesome if you're planning to use it as a base for a custom job.

I bought a full sized .......kept the barrel and frame, took everything else out of the gun and re-built it myself.

The only thing left to do is have the gun "melonized" by Coal Creek. This is the absolute best finish going - for the price.

Spent about $300 in parts in the re-build, so another $200 for the finish and the base cost of the gun $400 puts me at $900 !!! :what: I don't think I'll do that again....even though its a darn nice 1911 now. I wanted the experience working on this model 1911.

I just don't know if the finished product approaches what you could buy in a SIG GSR 1911 for the same money ???? At least I can say I own this 1911 with the best parts available......and it is a Tack driver. I can cover a 5 hole group at 30 feet with a quarter. :D
