I was in Border's yesterday and saw a display of the Outdoor Channel's new magazine. On the cover was a blurb - the inside scoop (or something like that) with Jim ZUMBO!

Didn't look at it because I was in a hurry to catch up to the family and leave.

I wonder if this issue was planned before the Zumbo hit the fan?

I don't know if it had anything to do with it, but I did see the episode of "Spirit of the Wild" (Ted Nugent's Show) with Ted and Zumbo last night.

All in all, pretty good. Ted was giving Zumbo a hard time (he made Jim shoot Shemane's (Teds Wife) Pink AR, so "it wouldn't scare him as much".

Then, Jim and Ted set down and talked about what happened to Zumbo. Zumbo did sound apologetic, and Ted still grilled him a little , telling him "you're not as ignorant as you were" and that "Don't use the words defending the 2nd; it is an absolute right". He also said that Zumbo's Elk rifle
is a "sniper" rifle in some peoples mind.

Zumbo did say that he thought the NRA was the one that got everyone riled up about his comment, not a grassroots effort put forth by websites and others. :banghead:

Oops

If Mr. Z really said the NRA was behind the uproar then methinks he may not be really repentant. The outrage seemed to me to be spontaneous and widespread. If he is trying to blame anyone other than himself, he is still in denial.
Also, I am a member and the NRA did not notify me, my outrage was homegrown.

Just a reminder:

Please keep this discussion on the high road.

Also, don't pass judgment on the article if you haven't read it. Its a good idea to know what the content is before doing so.

Zumbo's comments were posted (I believe) on a Friday. The NRA offices were closed over the weekend, Mr. Zumbo. Who do you think "got riled up" on that Saturday and Sunday? It most certainly WAS a grassroots effort at informing those of us in the gun culture of what an ignominious, blithering fool you'd made of yourself. I felt that backstab long before the NRA offices opened on Monday morning, Mr. Zumbo.

And I'd suspect this was done well before the whole "episode".

Most magazines are several issues ahead and just do their "Breaking News" stuff right before press time.

It's too hard to pull an article and reformat things.

Being from Michigan, I would really, really like to see Zumbo contact Carl Levin, and tell him that he put words in his mouth, and that he doesn't feel that way any more. Granted he probably still feels Clinton assault weapons are evil and should be banned, but thats not the point. If he went and told Carl Levin off, it would in effect extinguish the damage he has done.

Belong to the NRA & TSRA and didn't know about Zumbo's comments until I read it on THR.
Methinks Zumbo protesteth too much. His true colors continue to show through.
