Apparently the Muslim world is up in arms about something the Pope said. He actually quoted something an old Emperor said to a Persian scholar. I bet is it going to turn into another "Mohameed Bombhead cartoon" moment and violence will insue. Why is it that Muslims turn a blind eye when radical muslims kill Christians and Jew without remorse because we don't believe in Islam, but if someone makes a comment about it Islam we somehow offend all of them.

SSDD, you can have a headline for each day of the week that says:

Apparently the Muslim world is up in arms about something XXXXX said.

As to the answer to your question, it makes my head hurt to try to think of an answer.

Good. I hope he keeps it up. I'm tired of treading lightly because some immam might get pissed off.

Who cares what the muslims are whining about, today?

As long as they relish mahem and murder, their infantile complaints are falling upon deaf ears.

the muslims get mad at him for calling them violet, then they angrily respond with violence. [insert derogitory term of ironic idiocy here.] *** mate?

The country's[pakistan] foreign ministry said they were "regrettable" and claimed they would encourage violence

so to keep this THR'esque, i either stop here or ask "whats the best gun to fight a holy war with?"

I'd imagine these crazy muslims would disappear real quick if they didn't live in 3rd world squalor. Muslims in the US and Europe sure don't seem to act like that.

Its funny that they pray for the death of the great western satan when in actuality, they should be praying for change in their own country. Heaven forbid they actually do something useful and become an active proponent of change. Its so much easier to be peaceful and happy when you've got a full stomach and a roof over your head.

:scrutiny:

Except when they try to run over students with an SUV, or blow up the London underground trains and a bus, or plot to blow up the tower in Toronto, or...

...crash planes into buildings.

That student with the SUV had a bright career future ahead of him. But he still went all nutty jihad. Explain.

BTW, as to the Pope, he was quoting a 14th century text in an academic speech. Not endorsing anything. He's a religious figurehead, not a political leader. He was saying whatever he pleases, because he can do that in free countries. I'd hope he puts his ring on his middle finger and "offers it to them to kiss."

Once again the Islamists prove that the 7th Century is their goal, not their starting point.

My signature line applies....as always.

The Pope promotes peace. Extremist muslims do not promote peace. Hence, the Pope indirectly called a spade a spade.

Ummm....the 9/11 terrorists did not live in squalor. I believe most were middle class and educated.

"whats the best gun to fight a holy war with?"

Why one greased with Lard! Of Course. Rather to soften opposition all operations should be preceded by a cropduster loaded with a mix of grain alcohol and lard.Any means necessary to demoralize the enemy, before conquering, and Christianizing the remainder. After 1500 yrs its long past due to put this BEHIND us.

Manedwolf, the London bombings and Sept. 11th attacks weren't carried out by American or European Muslims. They were from the Middle East and hell bent on killing people. You are also pointing out three incidents involving a handful of people. Compare that to the millions of muslims who go on living a normal life everyday without hurting anyone. I'd be willing to bet we've got a few muslims on the board that simply keep their beliefs to themselves.

At any rate, the point still stands. These poor people (poor as in dirt) barely manage a basic living and when they turn to spiritual leaders for guidance and comfort, they get crazies that tell them they can live the good life if they go blow up something and make themselves into martyrs.

You're talking about these "poor" that live in the most oil rich countries on earth right? That the poor you're talking about?

All they have to do is go blow up their lousy governments that are keeping all that wealth for it's own purposes.

Because they are too stupid to figure out how to fix their problems is not an excuse.

Already, someone tried to blow up a Christian church in Gaza over this.

They're angry about a quote that called them violent, so they respond with violence.

My head hurts. :banghead:

And any catholics here...I guess carry in church if you can, never know when there will be a nut around who might think they have a target.

oil money goes to the people who own the oil.
The people don't see that kind of money. Its capitalism at its worst.

You'll also find that in many of those countries, its not as simple as blowing up the government. They don't get the same luxuries we do here. Things like a constitution that protects your right to own guns are foreign to them. Certainly conspiring to use those guns against the ruling monarch would be an immediate death sentence.

You can imagine how difficult it would be to organize a coup in this country and remove our government from power. Try to imagine it over there with fewer rights, harsher punishments and less in the way of arms. Oil money buys a lot of nice things and security...if you own the oil.

This dynamic, frequently repeated, honestly reminds me of the manipulative antics of my preschool daughter.

Do something she likes, and she's all smiles, sweetness and sunshine. Do something she doesn't like, and she's a squalling typhoon of a fit kicking her feet on the floor.

One of the very first thing you learn as a parent is to recognize when you're being played by your kid, and not to reward the behavior.

Things like a constitution that protects your right to own guns are foreign to them.

I don't remember God coming down and handing President Washington a copy of the Constitution. I'm pretty sure it was a bloddy fight against a repressive government that didn't allow for much leeway, but it got done.

Look, there's no excuse for them not to take control of their own lives.

You don't need a Constitution, Second Amendment, and Air Conditioning to do it, history has proven that.

It would not be the first well armed, wealthy government to topple at the hands of it's own people.

Let's not forget the things that Catholicism has provided for our entertainment!

Regardless, I can understand their frustration. Their religion has been completely demonized by the rest of the world because of an underwhelming minority of individuals that blow stuff up, fly planes into buildings, and call the US the great satan.

Would I resort to protests or burning things? I would hope not, but if I had to put up with what the average Muslim has had to endure for the past 5 years, I'm sure my patience would be wearing thin by now as well.

After 9/11, I read alot of books about the muslim beliefs. (you need to know your enemy).
Their bible was written by a man that thought that he was going insane, and was thrown out of several countries.
He then went on to attacking and killing to get riches. He became very wealthy and powerful. He then went on to writing their bible.
Their bible talks of "death to the infidals". That is getting rid of everyone that does not believe in your religion.
Since they all read the same bible, they all get the same message. Some take it it to higher extremes.
The thing that I cannot believe is that so many people buy into this religion.

If the vast majority loudly denounced terrorist acts by Muslims like the London bombings, I could see that.

But all I ever hear is loud silence.

Silence is complicity.

In a recent poll, 40% of Muslims polled in the UK said they'd like Sharia law instituted in predominantly Muslim areas of the nation. If you know what sharia entails, that's scary. Its foundation is violent intolerance.

If you tolerate intolerance, what are you accomplishing?

but if I had to put up with what the average Muslim has had to endure for the past 5 years, I'm sure my patience would be wearing thin by now as well.

Oh you gotta be kidding me. What has the average Muslim had to put up with?

And you're not allowed to say "its the actions of a few that make the majority look bad" because the majority is WAY too silent in it's condemnation of what's been done.

I see the average Muslim just being quiet, biding his time. I don't see the average Muslim crying out against what's been done to their religion.

Why are so many people willing to make excuses for these people's behavior?

i guess i missed the whole bullets lubed with lard thing, do explain.

i have no problem with other religions, untill that religion says that if they kill me they go to heaven. then, issues start to arrise in our relationship.

what are they getting so upset about, they're religion is violet, its a fact, get used to it or try a different one. my religion is[stereotypically] for alcoholics, so what, i can deal with that.

why cant we all just get along?... or atleast stop killing each other.

I have read numerous stories about moderate Muslims condeming the things extremists do. They're out there, and they exist. They just don't make the front page.

Muslims that hadn't even done anything were dragged from their cars and beaten to death after 9/11 occurred. Sure that doesn't happen every day, but it shows what Americans are capable of doing to a person just because of their religion. They have to walk on eggshells around people so Bubba doesn't come up and ask them, "Are you wunna them muzlumz? Are you gunna blow up mah country?"

So how many of you cry out whenever an abortion clinic is bombed? How about when a Catholic priest molesets a young boy? Or how about when a homosexual person's funeral is picketed by the God Hates Fags group from Oklahoma? Apparently a lack of outrage on this forum implies that everyone here is complicit with those acts. Or am I wrong?

Muslims that hadn't even done anything were dragged from their cars and beaten to death after 9/11 occurred. Sure that doesn't happen every day

But the reverse DOES happen every day in countries there! Kidnappings and beheadings of "western infidels". Every day. Did you not catch the video of the people made to "convert" with an AK muzzle in their ear?

I have no idea why so many people are absolute apologists for hardline Muslims and view them with an almost fawning reverence, as if they're some sort of enlightened, scholarly sorts that are just misunderstood.

I do NOT get it. It scares me and makes me ill. Have people never read their press? Their books? Their propaganda? Do they not see the people having their heads sawed off, screaming, by grinning fanatics chanting praises to their god?

WHY?!

Do they, or will they only see the error of this when the last thing on earth they hear, while sitting in some coffee bar, will be "allahu akbar!" and then the explosion of a suicide bomb that tears them to shreds?
