Its really becoming crystal clear as the days tick by that President Bush’s overall approval and support for re-election numbers are deliberately declining. If I didnt loose you with that opening comment please read on... Certainly there is a core base of party line voters that will vote Republican for President (Bush). Solidarity motivated by resilient determination. However, middle of the roaders are obviously slipping away.

I state that fact in the interest of simply airing a clear picture of Bushs’ re-election prospects. It ‘feels’ as though many folks are overlooking some compelling polling and the issues that drive them. Yes, I know it is very early in the process. That fact may be the single most important when attempting any current analysis. However, Republican presidential eggs are in one basket next year. There will not be multiple choices. That fact amplifies Bush’s actions and results even at this very early stage.

I would lament the loss of control of the presidency to Democrats as much as any other RIGHT thinker. I feel that standing on its own; the loss of the presidency will not make a significant difference to my life. Though, a slide into Democratic (socialist) control as a result of a perceived successful Democratic President is a larger and more concerning prospect. The sad fact, and what I believe is driving the deliberate decline in support, is that President Bush himself has eroded confidence amongst a significant percentage of one time ardent Bush supporters. To be fair, Ill say REPUBLICAN supporters. Bush being the face of the current Republican party. Without going into detail on every concern, Ill site runaway spending and erosion of and ignoring of civil liberties (Patriot Act) as two notable issues. Well, one more….. Iraq. There certainly are plenty of RIGHT thinkers that did not and do not support Americas actions in Iraq. To be clear I supported the actions in Iraq and still do. Though, I distinctly remember sitting in the ole’ armchair before the initial strikes praying that clear PHYSICAL evidence of Iraq’s immediate threat to America would be found quickly. And, found in such a way that it would be absolutely clear that Americans could not have ‘planted’ the evidence. It has not been. Erosion….

Disenfranchisement obviously isn’t exclusive to black and Hispanic and old Democrats. Will voting always be the choosing of one of 2 viable candidates that is the ‘better evil’? Political apathy is powered by this fact. Better to be a silent and disassociated observer than be ‘involved’ in a process that locks you in a cage and hangs the key to freedom on the end of a flailing bull whip.

By the way, I AM going to vote in the next presidential election. I am a middle of the roader in the middle of a necessary and personal process that I suspect many are. Where are you at in the process?

I keep a shred of hope going that someday there will be a major party candidate that I truly believe in, and would feel right about voting for.

But I seriously doubt that be the case. I can no longer vote for the better of two bads, so a third party candidate has, and will continue to get, my support.

My fervent wish is that enough people will start to think this way and either make another party viable, or return either the Dems or Repubs back toward the principles of liberty and justice.

That's where I've been at in the process for a number of years.

I share your wish, but can't truthfully tell you I consider it a hope. I'm very disappointed in the Republicrats and Demicans.
