Nice to see the media take a PRO-GUN stance for a change. Maybe.....just maybe.....we can, at some point, start to get the media on our side of the fence.

Well smack my butt and paint me blue.

That is one of the most well written articles on personal responsibility and from a Canadian no less......

Good Read & I saved it for future reference.

Somewhat fitting today as I did something I seldom do - I watched a bit of Opra ! (please forgive).

On the show they had a victim of domestic violance where the husband killed both the kids and stabbed his wife dozens of times. She lived to tell her tale.

Of course they had one of those bubble head psycho babble persons on there and asked "What are some of the signs that women should watch out for as being a warning sign to domestic violence".

One of the things she comes up with is "if there are guns in the house". So, according to her , anybody who owns a gun should be viewed as a potential suspect for domestic violence. I'm glad to see some women actualy get it , and understand otherwise.

I guess that reinforces why you don't watch much of that show to begin with and regretted your decision :neener:

There were mothers on that show recently talking about how they wanted to kill their kids, wanting to stab their babies in the head. I don't get who watches claptrap like that.

Daytime programming is insane. It's all full of "who is the real daddy of this child" stuff.

It's nice to have a pro-2A article now and then, but it'd really make my day if they sat down and had a pro-2A segment on television. Not everyone is savvy enough to snoop the Internet for news.

I just sent a copy of that most excellent article to my girlfriend, who is anti-gun, doesn't want one, doesn't like them, wishes I didn't have them (but accepts that I do), and feels that her life will simply keep her sheltered from ever being anywhere that she could end up needing a gun because she is threatened. She is applying for a job an hour from here in the town of Pahokee, Florida, which is a CRIME CESSPOOL. We were talking about it today because she told me she was excited about the interview she had earlier today, and only later told me that it was for a job in Pahokee.

EVERYONE in S. Florida knows about Pahokee. She's not from here. She doesn't know. I hope to gradually open her eyes to HER OWN responsibility for her own safety. At this point, I am not out in the open with her about having a gun on me when we go out. (She might freak to know that, or disdain me for being "the type" who would do that.) Maybe she has a suspicion, I dunno. But she just seems to think that, "If you're born to hang, you ain't gonna drown," and won't take responsibility for making sure she stays safe. She doesn't even reliably lock the doors of her car! She (affectionately) calls me "safety paranoid." I don't see it that way.

Thanks for the link to that article. It was wonderful.

Play out a skit. Make sure your concealed carry is completely safe and devoid of bullets. Then get a friend to hold you up with a knife or something while you're with her at a designated place (like your home or hers...somewhere away from prying eyes as you never know who else is carrying). Then brandish and have the "robber" run off.

Okay okay...perhaps a bit childish and evil to prove a point. I don't know if anyone has ever tried that but some people won't believe anything until they're in that very vulnerable situation. Either that or it takes a long time of chipping away years of solidified crud. Don't give up!

Hi, Cesiumsponge,

It looks like you had second thoughts on that idea and that is good. "Staging" a crime to prove a point is not a good idea and could possibly get someone killed if an overzealous cop or nervous civilian decides to intervene and starts shooting. Besides, if your GF is terrified by the "BG", and then finds out the whole thing was a fake, she will probably be your ex-GF very quickly.

In this area last week, three teen-agers decided to stage a fake kidnapping, and tape it for some internet contest. A neighbor saw the girl being dragged into a car and, naturally, called the police. After many wasted police hours, and gallons of wasted fuel for the police helicopter, the facts came out. It looks like the kids won't do time, but will have to pay for all the police overtime and the chopper operating costs. I think they have learned a lesson.

Lol that would be the funniest break-up story ever! If I read that in reader's digest I'd piss myself laughing.

"...And then they stopped the van, and told me it was just pig's blood, and they weren't really cutting me up, and they took off the halloween masks and it was my boyfriend and his buddy, and then they started into this speil about firearms and society..."

Consdiering she's so strongly anti-gun and anti-2A, I don't suspect that would necessarily be a BAD thing! :D
