i have many shotguns from 410-12 magnuns, and this is the one he wants. i bought this 870 12 ga. made in april 1950 at a estate sale many years ago for 50.00 and added two extra barrels over the years, a 20" slug barrel and a 30" vent rib with factory rem chokes. i only hunted it for small game and a few rounds of trap over the years. he will get it on his 16 th birthday four years from now.

he has fired quite a few of my shotguns with reduced loads, i thought he would go for a browning upland special with 26" barrels in 20 ga, or a 20 ga auto bretta al 391.

Does he know that yet?
I bought my son a marlin 60 22lr when he was about 10 for Christmas - well, I showed it to him at Christmas and said if he got all A's he would get it - great motivator as on that last day he came running across the parking lot waving that report card with all As.........when they earn something, they really appreciate it even more.

You don't need another grandson do you???????????? ;)
That's very nice of you and your interacting with him makes a great story. Wish you both the best in the future.

When I was 12 my Grandfather gave me a Remington pump Model 31 in 20 gauge with 12 or 13 boxes of shells. He said he bought it at a DNR sale of confiscated weapons. I shot all of those shells at pigeons that summer. When my only Grandson was 12 I gave him a Remington 11-87 20 gauge with shells, and a Remington Model 513 .22 rifle and ammo. He had no clue what I was going to give him. He likes Sporting Clays, and whenever I visit ( South Carolina to Wisconsin ) we shoot with my son. He does hunt pheasants some, but prefers shooting clays.
