OK Pards,

Let's get down and see who has what it takes to have personal knowlage of the evolution of the cap and ball revolver. Challenge is to show your collection, which has an example of:

Dragoon (any model from Walker to Third Model).

Colt Pocket-Pistol in .31

Colt Belt-Pistol "Of the Navy Caliber".

Colt Belt-Pistol "Of the Army Caliber".

Remington 1858.

and...

Ruger Old Army.

I'll show mine when I get home. Who else can play?

Extra Credit for having a Patterson replica to preceed the Dragoon, but with their lack of shootability... well... let's not insist.

I'm in. My 1862 Police, my 1860 Army with my 1849 Pocket revolvers. :)

My '62 Police and '49 Pocket just sit in display cases, I only shoot my '60 Army. To tell you the truth the only firearm I shoot now is the '60 Army. The rest just collect dust.

Looking for photos showing one of each, so we can see in a glance the entire history told in steel.

There were a couple more later on:

Of course, there's a Navy caliber version of this also:

And let's not forget a fine example that got lost in the warehouse through no fault of its own:

The 'anti-hero':

A true brass framed example:

And finally:
Ruger Old Army.

Of course, that's not all of them...

^^ Nice. I was actually contemplating needing to add "one oddball" to the mix to sort out the serious guys from the Cabela-Buyers, but thought against it.

No Paterson? I'm shocked... ;-)

I'm out, don't care for the top strap revolvers.

I agree. The top strap is synonymous with Johnny-come-latelies and credit crabbers.

But to give credit where credit is due, that Remington is one accurate SOB. :)

OK Willie, I accept your challenge.

First, We have an Uberti Walker, 2nd a Uberti Baby Dragoon, 3rd a Pietta Engraved 1851 Navy Wild Bill Hickok copy, 4th a Faul 1860 (1960) Army, 5th a Ruger Old Army with real stag grips that might be worth more than the Ruger is, finally a couple of odd balls, a Pietta double action Starr, and a Pietta steel framed pocket Remington.

And to finish off the list, here is a EN Santa Barbara 1858 Remington Clone in it's display box.

These are some of my favorites

It is too late to charge the camera up and take pictures but I have them all
except the Ruger. The Patterson is a Uberti. Sold my Lemat still have a
couple Centaurs put away. Maybe tomorrow I will get picture taken.
By the way how do you post pictures here?

h\Since I teach NRA Muzzle Loading Pistol Instructor training, I have a representative collection of Cap & Ball pistols. Here's an assortment of what my Instructor candidates shoot in the C&B chapter. IMG_0947.jpg
