yeah #11s are just that smidge loose on mine.

RWS 1075 fit great, but having to order them in sucks doodle

RWS 1055 are rifle caps but seem to work well...

RWS 1075 PLUS are a bit loose.

I gave them all a bit of a run, they work ok, but i would prefer the right caps.

Didn't intend to join this club, but It showed up on auction with a great price, so now I need to learn the quircks of another gun. I've always been a ROA guy, but the baby Colt clone showed up and along came big brother.:banghead::banghead:

That's a 1970's ASM, same brand as the little one. I just got it in and after examining it thoroughly, I believe it's unfired. Upon opening it I found a brown shoe polish like grease inside and no b/p residue on it anywhere. Seller said he got it in a trade and it was in good condition. It's got a few sharp edges, but lock-up is tight, and I'll soon correct the unfired condition.

Here's one question for you Walker guys.I want to buy Armi san Marco Walker, but I have read somewhere ASM metal parts are poor and they quickly wore out. Also I heard that Walker is almost impossible to use by person with smaller hands (can you put some photo from back of it just to see what it looks like?) .Is that true and should I buy it?

I have read somewhere ASM metal parts are poor and they quickly wore out
No more true for ASM than Pietta.
Walker is almost impossible to use by person with smaller hands
Well, that all depends on how small the hands are. Seriously. It's a big gun; 4 1/2 lbs, about 16 inches long. Bigger than a Model 29 Smith & Wesson or a Ruger Super Redhawk.

Montenegrin,
Shop around a bit before you spend your money. Uberti makes a very nice Walker. The ASM might be a little less expensive, but the Uberti is beautiful... just my opinion.
Go ahead and purchase one, they are fun to shoot. If you don't care for it I'm sure you could always sell it and recover most of your money.

Well, I went to a gunshow today and accidently became the owner of a Colt Walker replica. The guy was asking $200 for it and I jokingly offered $100 and he said "sold!"

So, somebody tell me if I did good. The Walker has a little holster wear and it's dirty. Dirty like the last person to shoot it didn't clean it.

On the left slab it has stamped, "Replica Arms Co" and under that "El Paso, Texas"

On the right slab it has stamped, "US 1847" and "Made Italy"

The serial number is 1168 and there are two proof marks stamped "PN" and "XIX" on the right side under the cylinder.

The cylinder is stamped in scrollwork and says, "Colt's Patent" and "Model U.S.M.R."

The action is tight and the grips are plain, but well fitted. Does anybody know which italian firm made this Walker and where it falls in the quality scale?

No markings on the backstrap, but the same PN marking is under the loading lever. There is another marking, but I'll need to get a magnifying glass to determine what it is.

Isn't the PN the Pietta makers mark?

I paid $240 for my ASM Walker and have been offered $300 and I haven't even fired it yet. Yes, if it's not rusted solid and actually shoots, then you got a good deal. Most Walkers; no matter who made them, fetch $300 on the market. and ones in good condition get even more.

I picked up a magnifying glass today and have been able to figure out that the mark on the right side of the frame, under the cylinder, is a pair of crossed rifles inside a shield with a star above it.

I also was able to see more clearly the other marking under the loading lever, partially hid by a scratch. It appears to be a 'U' or a 'V' inside a gear cog - not sure as it is very small and difficult to see, even with the magnifying glass.

Looked all over, and there are no other markings. The only damage on the revolver is some minor pitting on the left side of the frame, from a lack of cleaning off black powder residue. I suspect most of this will clean up when I take a magnesium wool to it...

I think I will take the blue off of the cylinder and probably put a nice finish on the bare wood.

It sounds like you made out pretty well with your purchase. How about some before and after pictures of the revolver?

$100 bucks for an early (1963) Uberti Walker in good shape is akin to winning the lottery IMNSHO. Not exactly sure when Uberti started makeing Walkers; but the low 4 digit seriel number probably mkes this one the 1st or second year of production.

Congrats!

Fingers, this is the first Colt Walker I've ever seen for sale at a gunshow. The guy also had several piettas - but I already owned those. I was just joking when I offered $100 and I told the guy I'd hate for him to have to carry that heavy monster back to his trailer.

He said he was tired of toting it and it wouldn't fit in any of his gun bags... :D

I figgered I couldn't lose for $100! I'll post pics of it tonight when I get back from work.

---

ps - :neener: to all the folks who say you can't find a deal at a gunshow.

I understand the time for bargains at gun shows, is on the afternoon of the last day, I looked at an unturned, but no box ROA at a show on Sat. and he wouldn't bargain, he dropped his price $100 for tallbald on Sunday afternoon.
