Walker's!

Greetings:
I just found the site!! I purchased an Uberti Walker from a pard over on the firing line forum, seems he loaded it up and only managed a couple misfires, he decided that the BP guns weren't for him! So I basically got an "unfired" Uberti and starter kit for a pretty good deal. I have the R and D conversion cylinder and it's really a kick to shoot it with my .45 cal.....Henry; using the same cartridge. I'll try and post some pics of the pair soon.
Oh and please add me to the list!

Percusssion caps

Which cap are you all using on your Uberti Walkers? I have #10 and #11 CCI caps; the 11's seem too loose, the 10's a might bit tight. Perhaps another brand fits better?
Thanks

Depends on brand. Im using #10 cci. However i am having some major problems with pieces falling in the works. Seems as though maybe only 1 out of 6 shots lately that will shoot ok. So im going to be changing nipples to treso. Hopefully that will solve some of the problems.

Question!

This is a Walker kit I found on Dixie gun works

Is this the same gun we're all talking about in this thread? The big 9" one?
I've already bought and built 6 of these kits, very nice and fun to work on. The building time depends on the finish you want. The longest being the polishing of the brass triggerguard. It's really raw material directly coming out of the mold. The steel only needs some polishing and blueing. Count at least 10 hours work to have one ready to shoot.

I purchased a set of amco nipples for my Walker from Track of the Wolf, and CCI n° 11 are fitting very nicely on them.

Waiting to join the Club!

My Walker is still on backorder from S&S Firearms. They hope to have it in this week. I am hopeful to be a member of the Club by some time next week!

As soon as it arrives I will try to post pictures!

Is there a better price for the kit at Dixie for $300

I actually do want the kit because I think I want a bare steel gun, and I want to finish my grips by myself.

#10's work the best for me, also. Haven't tried nor seen remingtons around here.

Finished my WALKER kit!

I finished off my Uberti WALKER kit a few days ago using the antique process I found on the CAS City forums and it came out real nice and old looking.
Shot it for the first time yesterday and yee-hah, great big boom and a very impressive cloud of smoke! Accurate too.

Since it was the first time I had built a kit like this I went pretty slow to avoid screwing it up . I probably have somewhere around 19-20 hours in it in all. If I build another one I could probably do it alot faster.
It turned out to be a very worth while project, I learned quite a bit. Next year I might build another and finish it like new.

I ordered an Uberti kit from Dixie but I haven't gotten any kind of confirmation at all, and according to their website, I have nothing in the "past orders" section of my account.

However, my credit card has been charged.

I'm not impatient, I just want to make sure that the order went through correctly. Is this normal for Dixie Gun Works (I've never ordered from them before)?

Dixie gun works is a pretty good place. You should call them up monday. Im sure they will take care of you.

I have on occasion ordered several things from Dixie, and had one or more of them backordered. Sometimes it took a month or more, but the items always arrived. My experience with the company goes back to the late 1940's and I never had a problem that wasn't resolved.

While a number of folks on this forum are Walker-Happy :D I'm sure at Dixie they were a relatively slow mover among other cap & ball revolvers and kits, and then they were were caught off guard when the interest picked up.
