Uberti is hard to beat..in many cases hard to just keep up with. Uberti and Pietta are constantly striving hard to improve their products. Colt has so much money they don't give a damn anymore. Colt just rest's on their name. I know I would NOT trade either one of my Uberti Walkers for any Walker made by Colt today or in the past several years.

2nd gen production was from 1978-1982
3rd gen from1994-2002

The Colt revolvers are considerably different from the Italian revolvers. The Colts have real color case hardened vs a chemical process. The bluing is excellent, American Walnut grip panels and German Silver back straps and trigger guards on most models. The Colt walker has a brass trigger guard and steel back strap.

Nothing wrong with the Uberti's, it's the only game in town if you want to buy new. If you buy used you can add ASM, Colt and I think Palmetto.

mine is an Uberti and I love it.
Shoots good, fit and finish are very good, never had a problem with it.
Except keeping it in powder.

I just ordered the Forster's Gold Inlay kit from Midway and gave it a try. Whatcha think?

HPIM1553.gif

The Forster's is actually finely powdered bronze. There is a kit from Brownell's that claims to be 23 carat gold and only a few dollars higher than the Forster's kit. Anyone ever tried it?

Very nicely done, Pulp. Just the right amount to be attractive, but not so much as to end up as a gaudy barbeque gun.

The gold kit works just like the Fosters kit. I sure wish they still made the silver kits.

.452 You gotta remember when you use a .454 roundball you press it in the cylinder shaving the lead making a ring. Press that round ball out and it will be at or around .452

Thanks Scrat

Kind of what I figured, tryed some .452 and leaded up may have been the lube or lack of enough or slow powder I was only able to get 2F will try 3F and a big lube bullet

Lube for sure. Thats where the finese comes to play i have had a lot of luck with 60 % beeswax and 40% olive oil mix. You have to run a wad behind the bullet. this will help to reduce all the fouling. Then i still run a rod through the barrel every 12 rounds

Hi everyone I'm new here (this forum). This is just what I needed, another forum to read! Now my wife will never see me at all!;)

Love BP and walkers. I've owned this Walker since the late 1970's. My Dad and I (now passed away) bought a pair and my son now owns his. I'll try to get some better photos later.

I don't know who made it!

I'm going to pull it out this weekend and oil it up and take some photos (details) and I'll look then. Or you can help me figure it out.

I remember my Dad and I wanting to buy one each and he put his order in first. I sent mine in about 4 days later. They sent me a letter saying they didn't have any more of that model of Walker. So my Dad got in just under the wire I guess. They asked if I would accept the "commemorative" Colt Walker in it's place for the same price and I wanted it bad so I said yes. That model was half again more expensive.

It doesn't show on the above photo, but on the top of the barrel in Gold is the Words "Capt Samuel H Walker" "Commemorative" on on the back of the grip (on the metal) it says "Texas Rangers". I could care less if it is there so I shot it anyways. Heck, I've shot it a lot! LOL

Probably worth a million dollars now if I hadn't shot it, but who cares!;)

hi ..dolk ..looking at the photo it looks like the wedge is in the wrong way or is it the photo that makes it look like it is , as to your WALKER being a "Commemorative" model you will have to wait for some other club members to help you out there ....

Yes, the wedge is in the wrong way! LOL

When I cleaned it last I tightened up the screw so I didn't loose it. When I went to re assemble everything I didn't have a screwdriver handy, so I stuck it in the other side to hold it till later. That's been a while now, I guess I'll fix that tomorrow!
