I eat all that stuff to when I feel like cooking it. My wife has been deceased for several years now and I do for myself. I happen to be a damn good cook and baker. But squirrel dumplings is very good. Beat's the hell out of chicken and dumplings I can tell you that. (although everybody that know's anything [and it's obvious ya'll don't] is aware that you need a good rooster for making chicken and dumplings. Fried rabbit is good. Bar-b-cued 'coon is good.
Ya'll folks are gonna keep on here and make me think ya'll ain't never been anywhere. I already know most of you don't know s*** about a gun; I can tell by the questions you ask!....

Fingers McGee, I'm not even sure I understand what SASS is. Please explain it to me if you would be so kind...Yes, I live in Wyoming but I'm not close to anybody or any town. Most of the wintertime I am snowed in and couldn't go anywhere anyway.
I retired from the Marine Corps, then I turned around and retired again from the Merchant Marines. Then I gathered up my guns and my tobacco and moved way back up in here by myself and I don't want anybody coming back here messing with me about s***. I get my electricity from small gasoline generators and a wind turbine and a big ol'
Dish 500 and Wildblue internet system mounted out here in the middle of nowhere about ten feet from where I'm sitting right now give's me my computer and tv. (which I seldom watch) I do get to Cheyenne now and then, during the summer months. Partly just to be around people for a couple of hours (you can't stay by yourself all the time) and mostly to make arrangements for getting all my supplies out here for the coming winter. What do ya'll do on this trip? I never heard of a Hell On Wheels Match. I do appreciate the 4th of July Mr. McGee.....

Morning Mr. Scrat. Sound's pretty nice. I used to work quite a bit with the NRA and different folks helping out the children. Not just the NRA. Churches, Orphan homes and what have you.
You doing alright this morning? I just got up about an hour ago. Still working on my second cup of coffee and morning news.

Scrat, yeah I'm still here... I drink that real dark roast coffee. I don't make it too awful strong, I just like the flavor of it. My wife used to tell me it tasted like it was burned or something...Toast is good. I like toast if it's got plenty of butter on it. Real butter...I get most of (well, all of it really) my news from conservative radio talk show hosts. I use XM radio. I don't listen to that 'Rush Limbaugh' guy because he won't move over to XM. I have some pretty good radio equipment, Shortwave, 'Ham', 2 meter and stuff, so of course I'vd got am/fm but I haven't tuned into an am/fm station in so long I can't remember. I have a good bank of deep cycle batteries that take's care of my radio stuff...Anyway, what I was getting around to saying here is that sometimes these talk show hosts sound totally stupid. They won't ever come right out and say it just like it is. They tiptoe around. Probably afraid they'll lose their job. (sometimes I watch or listen to a little of Fox News)
Well, talk with you later. Got to wipe down my '47 and start putting together an article....

Just made a deal on this Uberti Walker. HAs anyone ever seen one like this? Is the 24K gold inlaid cylinder factory. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Craig

Hi Sportsfans,

Another sporadic update on progress.

1. LRE STAFF.

A couple of forum members here have kindly offered assistance and come on board with the project. One is a whiz with new metal work and will be looking after modification of the shoulder stocks to fit the Walker and 3rd Model Dragoon. The other is acting as a way station for me to enable me to buy parts/guns etc in the States while containing prices and shortening time.

2. SHOULDER STOCKS. – LEGALITY Oz POLICE.

I have that one cracked now and the police will sign import permission for me, otherwise the stocks are prohibited imports.

3. SHOULDER STOCKS – LEGALITY Oz CUSTOMS.

Still waiting to hear back from Customs but if the Police are playing ball I am not expecting problems.

4. SHOULDER STOCKS – AVAILABILITY.

Struck out on that one. No 3rd Model Dragoon stocks to be had. So buying 1860 Army stocks off Dixie GW and modifying them to fit the bigger revolvers.

5. CUSTOM BARRELS. No further progress yet – until I get the new revolvers in hand for measuring.

6. NEW REVOLVERS. I have 2 x new Uberti Walkers on order direct from the factory and they will be here in due course. I am buying a Uberti 3rd Model Dragoon already cut out for a stock early next week. Should have had that by now but got delayed as it is a long way to travel and I have to combine tasks.

7. REAR SIGHTS.

The shoulder stocked revolvers were fitted with long range rear sights that need to go on the new ‘carbine’. I am still hunting these up and am praying the Dragoon will have a set on it.

8. CHANGE IN BUILD/COMPLETION LOCATION.

Due to the monster of a task dealing with Australian Gun Laws I have changed tack a bit. The custom 18” barrels will be made in Oz, fitted with sights and then sent to the USA.

The first Walker LRE will thus be assembled, fired and evaluated in the US. Much as I want the first one myself – I feel that this situation is as it should be and it is entirely fitting that the LRE should see the light of day in the States!

I will relay the next gripping instalment as events unfold.

Aussie TH,

I would be more than honored to receive your LRE prototype for evaluation, test firing, and purchase if you are so inclined. I will pay all costs to get here to Arizona.

TMC -

As the original creator of this Project then it would be entirely apt if you were involved - but a queue is already forming rapidly!!!

Forgive me but I do not know the USA geography very well. How close do you live to Idaho?

Aye

Tony

Hmmmm!!! Nobel Sniper.

Forgive me please because I have nobbled your thread a bit.

That is a lovely gun you have! What do you want for it - and do not say the prototype LRE because she will be a bit 'special' for obvious reasons.

Sorry friend it is not for sale. I have not yet taken possession of it as it will be on its way shortly. Thanks ;)

Good - not very far then.

"What was I thinking"? Let's get the hardware together first but it would be fitting to have an inaugaral bash with the gun's first appearance for THR Walker members.

I could not be there but I could fax a couple of pizzas over I suppose :)

Aussie, TMC, COME ON DOWN, Idaho's big enough to hod a couple more cantankerous "Walkerphiles". Aussie, if you can't make it just make sure the faxed pizzas have plenty of sausage and anchovies on the side.

Lever Holder.....HOLY CRAP, that looks exactly like one I made for a guy on this site!!! He wanted it bright and shiney also.

NobleSniper,
The inlay on the Walker you posted looks like a finish I have used in the past called "Bronz-It". If I remember correctly, it was a powdered bronze in a clear liquid similar to nail polish. It was brushed and left to dry, then cleaned. The bronze was rubbed off the high spots, leaving the cut engraved lines filled. There was another product made by the same company only with a silver coloring to it. I have used both and they are very tough products. The Bronze-It product has been on a weapon carried daily for over thirty years. It has worn off quite a bit, but so has the bluing.
