By the time you found 'um they'd be half-way to China. :eek:

If a member (or any other person) is dimwitted enough to carry two Walkers while crossing a bridge it should be required that a line and bobber be tied to each one, You are quite correct in thinking that the person is expendable, while the revolvers aren't... :D

that wife shooting thing is a double edged sword for sure :D :eek:
On the other hand , teaching your wife to shoot , is also a double edge sword :D
Gots to make the desicion in life if the one thats in your fox hole is the one that your willing to have possibly kill ya too ? Oh it happens too .
It's a wonderful thing to share the sport with your mate , just realize now that you can run but you'll only die tired .

I taught my gal to shoot , we love the sport together , but I do fear her now . I could stand in front of her at 50 feet and there is no way even with all of Gods help she could hit me back then . Now , I am a dead man at 100 yards no doubt . :D
I personally am willing to take the risk to enjoy a sport we can love together .:) ..Oh yes . I sleep with one eye open and listen for clicks :D

I tell you what the last couple times I was able to go to the range and she went with me it was a really good time. And you know after 22 years of marriage its about damn time.
But now here is the problem she is also eyeing my Model 69 and now my hawkens
 
Get her a couple of her own. Show her how to do it all............loading cleaning etc........... While my wife does not shoot with me reguarly she does know how to shoot and shoot well. Can shoot anything I own and I lost a jewel of a S&W M10 becasue of it. And to top that off both of my youngest daughters have eyes for my single action Colt :D
 
When my wife started shooting I carried a 2 1/2" Model 66 a 4" model 66 and a Model 60 she took one look at the model 60 and decided that it was just too small, the 4" wouldn't fit conveniently in her purse,and the 2 1/2" was just right and "kind of cute" so thats what she wanted to shoot and she didn't want to shoot .38s either though I did start her out on .38 +P+ she quickly moved on to .357s and loved 'em. She was very good putting all six rounds in the K5 double action from 15 yards and 4 out of 6 at 25 yards. I was really proud of her but have been careful not to piss her off too badly ever since. I don't know if you guys have ever fired a 2 1/2" .357 but it is a pretty good handful. I haven't let her shoot my walker I've been afraid she'd like it too much.
 
husker has his walker from JCT that was for sale, came in Monday. i have been out 3 times with it. lots & lots of smoke & fun. it doesnt like .451 balls. it needs something a little bigger than my new army shoots. but i put a wool greased wad, ball then some bore butter.
make sure we didnt have a chain fire. i like the nickel job JCT had done on the back strap.
i think it will shot better with a few thousandths bigger ball. any way do i have to post pics to join the club? i dont have a camera. but im sure i can find some one who does.
 
ya the piggy bank is filling up for a cam. to many peeps on face book want to see pics of my little ones. & there getting impatient to. so the jump into the modern age of camera is coming

No reserve on this one, some may get a good deal.

I've been looking for a Whitneyville, two ASM's on GB, one is kind of rough with a short lug that does not match the frame, the other doesn't look to bad.

Not a bad deal on that ASM Walker, that leather has be worth $100 or so.
 
I took my brother out and let him shoot my walker.
The first shot took him by surprise.
WOW! thats loud.
After finishing off the cylinder, A big ole grin.
This is more fun than a regular pistol.
I may have hooked another one.
 
I've got a Walker. Well actually several. All Uberti's. I've fixed a few fer people over the years. Well I have a Walker that if I put a notch on the wood grip fer every ground hog it's killed there would be no wood left.
It's an 80's model. Maybe about 85 or 86 I took command of the piece. Liked it right off the bat. It was accurate then and more consistantly so now. I reamed the chambers to equal the groove diameter of the barrel. The groove diameter of the barrel is .464 if I'm remembering right. That meansd the chambers have been reamed from .449-.450 to a consistant .464. If I went a little over .464 later I've forgotten. I don't forget the ball size it takes though. It eats .472 round balls fer breakfast lunch and dinner. The gun shoots as accurately as any of my other guns (revolvers)whether they be smokeless or black cartridge or percussion.
I believe it's the chamber alignment being good and the chambers being sized to size the balls the same as the groove diameter of the barrel that makes the gun consistantly accurate. The creep free trigger that breaks like a glass rod after the trigger job I did doesn't hurt any either.
Anyway I load my Walker with 45gr. FFFg powder and a lube pill and the .472 ball. There was a marked difference in the consistancy of the guns accuracy after the chamber reaming. It shot good before that and after it shot good more consistantly....like every shot. ha ha ha Some margin of error has to be included because of my older eyes and shoulders and back and legs and ....well....everything. ha han ha Don't be fooled though by an old man with a white beard. I'm a deadly shot with that dang Walker. All I do anymore is tilt my head up a little to dial in my no-line bifocals and that's all she wrote. ha ha ha
Anywhooooo.....I've got micro pits on my Walker from practicing with different bluing agents over the years and I've let the old bird age some to take on that nice character of a well cared for gun that's showing some age to it. Like myself. ha ha ha
Well...I never thought to get into a Walker club. What's the prerequisite to join? I ain't saying I'd join a club though. My Walker and myself are a CLUB unto ourselves. The ground hogs write tales of lore about the Legend of "The Walker and the Man". ha ha ha ha Like I said....if I put a notch on the wood grips for every ground hog I've killed with the gun there would be no wood left. ha ha ha Granted I lived on a farm for twenty years before moving and the ground hogs were plentiful. If anyone wonders what a ground hog is it's a "wood chuck" that lives in holes it digs in the woods and "farm fields". It's akin to a Prarie Dog. The holes will have mounts of dirt by them from the hog digging out the hole. Lovely critters about like a mangy junk yard dog. The animals dig holes that can get large enough to break a tractor. The holes are used generation after generation by successive ground hog residence. Farmers like ground hog killers and I was considered one of the best. I loved to roam the fields and pastures hunting the critters to leave them for the flock of buzzards that followed me around when I went for a walk with the old Walker.
Anywhoooo........that's about what I gots ta say(almost). Maybe I'll join the Club. What's the rules? If yer Walker has to be new and spiffy lookin I'm out. My holster and my gun look antique anymore and I'm gettin there at a rapid rate myself.
Anywhooooo....I don't shoot the 50 and 60 gr. charges in the old Walker personnally. It does just fine with 45gr. FFFg which ain't hay. When the chambers are reamed to groove diameter and the gases are sealed behind the ball the gun holds more of the pressure and has a sharper report and a snappier recoil. It could handle the heavier charges but I'd suspect
it wouldn't burn all the powder. A little more probably but not much since the barrel is only 9 inches. Ifin I drilled and insert a barrel extension,which I plan to do some day, a 16 inch barreled Walker carbine would do duty as a revolving rifle. ha ha ha It would burn the powder then Buddy! A person with a lathe could drill the barrels main lug ,which had the round barreled part cut off, and press fit a sleeve with an octagon or round barrel extension to the gun. The barrel could be as long as a person could handle. The 16 incher would be nice but it would be a trial carrying the extended barreled Walker in a holster. It could be done though unless a person was pretty short. ha ha ha
I'm surprised no one has done the barrel extension with the Walkers yet. I've never seen one or heard of one so if I make one soon I'd be the first to have one. I'd go down in the history books. In decades towards the future there would be pictures in sports books of an old man (me)with a real long barreled Walker revolver standing over a big Bull Elk or Grizzly Bear with a caption like," Walker revolver with extended barrel downs big game". Of course it would probably state in the article that the gun was loaded "for bear" with a conical bullet made of harder than pure lead. ha ha ha ha ha Well if there weren't an elk or grizzly in the picture there would at least be a middlin sized doe whitetailed deer. ha ha ha ha "A Walker can kill those middlin sized deer without a barrel extension though",you might say. Maybe the caption under a picture in the history books may include something like,"Old Man and Long Barreled Walker Revolver kills deer with one shot at extended long range of 300 yards". ha ha ha ha Maybe it may show one of those old timey Malcolm 3/4 inch tube scopes mounted to the 16 inch barrel? ha ha ha ha
Man that would be a reaL HOOT TO SHOOT. The 16 inch barreled Walker revolver with a Malcolm tube scope mounted. Who says those scopes are only for Sharps and Remington Rolling Blocks and Ballard rifles? There are short ones offered now ya know.
I guess the next move to make would be one of those skeleton framed shoulder stocks to mount on the dang gun. Cool. That would be cool.
Well the Walkers just the way they come from the boxes are cool anywhoooo.........

Has anyone converted their Walker with the Kirst Konverter to fire 45 Colts? I am starting to get the itch for a project like this on my Uberti after reading the new issue of Guns of the Old West. They did a great feature story about the guns of Lonesome Dove including the converted Walker carried by Gus McCrae. Thought about doing it to my 2nd Gen Colt but figured I better start with the cheaper one frist. If anyone has or knows of a step by step link, please post.

Also, I have been off of the forum for awhile - what happened to the Walker Long Range Express project that was being worked on down under????
 
I believe Scrat has a Kirst or R&D conversion cylinder for his Walker. It's a simple drop in replacement for the percussion cylinder, unless you decide to go the gated route.

I've got several for my '58's and they work quite well. Rather nice, actually, to be able to shoot smokeless at an indoor range. Even more fun when I inadvertently let a 38-ish gr. 777 load of 45 LC slip out the barrel towards the end. WOW! Must be experienced to be believed. Be prepared to leave quickly if you mix up you indoor and outdoor loads. :evil:
 
R&d i did not want to mess with the frame on the Walker i like it too much the way it is. my 1858 has a kirst i did the machine work myself. The R&D is a drop in cylinder. No modifications great accessory to have by far

I'd be honored to join the club iff'n I was accepted...Uberti, mfg code...2007, bought new in box 06-27-09 at Cabelas....7 cylinders shot through it so far...many more to be shot!
