The Outlaw Josey Wales
No doubt many of us are fans of this movie as a great display of the Colt Walker Revolver as well as an excellent film.
When I got my second Walker it seemed appropriate to make a set of holsters for them in the style of the ones used by Clint Eastwood as Josey Wales. I had some leather left over so I made a type of shoulder holster for an 1849 Pocket like Josey wore.
There is also a belt with two pistols looped over the saddle horn - I had two holsters so I made a belt for them and added two 1860 Army Pistols.

Sooner or later, I myself am going to need a Holster for one of my Cap & Ball Revolvers...and I will likely elect to try my hand at making one, so it is nice to see such well done examples as food for thought.

Permission to come aboard and join the Walker owners thread. Scored a new in the box ASM Walker at the last gun show. Proofs date it to 1979. I was a little leary of an ASM but for 100 bucks figured I couldn't go too far wrong. All it needed was the usuall polishing of the internals. The arbor and wedge fit were perfect and the chambers are .002 over the groove diameter. Go figure. When it stops raining I'll get to the range to make some smoke. Read lots of smoke.

That sounds really nice.
Many San Marcos are known to be completetly well made, very good fit and finish, durable, reliable, and good quality through out.
How refreshing they got the Chambers right for the Bore! Regardless of who made it, that is nice to hear of.

I've got a '92 ASM. Since yours is a NIB '79 I'd like to know what caps you find to stay on the factory nipples. So far I haven't had any luck with #10 CCI's (too tight and won't seat consistantly). The CCI #11's have a tendency to get knocked loose by recoil (50gr 3f). I've got Treso's on the way from Idaho but I'd like to keep the stock ones if I can find caps that work.
I've also got a '79 ASM Dragoon and it likes the CCI #10's. Other than the nipple problem, I think ASM is highly "under-rated". Both of mine are great.
Almost ,but not quite. There is no standard for cap sizes, so there is no such thing as "different brands of the same size". Remington No. 10's are not the same size as CCI No. 10's, nor are the No. 11's the same size. And since there is no standard, saying a nipple is a No. 11 nipple is meaningless also. Here's the result of at least 20 samples of each brand and "size":

Fingers Crossed - so far, the Remington No. 10 Caps have fit perfectly with the several Cap & Ball Revolvers I happen to have, even though they are differing makes and models...andone has 'TRESO' Nipples I installed, because when I got the Revolver one Nipple had been missing, so I just replaned them all.
Just blind luck I guess...but, I am sure glad for it.

Shoot with two i would use my R&D in one and cap in ball in the other.

Hee Hee Hee... that was my thought too. But... his britches would only drop as far as his knees by the time the muzzles bounced onto the deck.
Went to the Range the other day, all excited about finally trying out my WALKER...start to load it up, and, realized I had left the Wedge out, sitting on my Desk...from doing a sort of inspection and Lube attentions on it the night before.
Well, since I was there anyway, I scrounged up another ten pounds of Range Lead in no time, and, then just kind of sat there a while amid the tranquility, enjoyed the quietude and nodding Wildflowers and Sunshine...said hello to a few zigzaggy Fire Ants, listened to the Birds, so, that was nice anyway...no one else was out there, so, it was plum 'quiet'.
Remind me to get that Wedge put back in, before I head out again?

I had it in my Watch Pocket all day, knowing Mr. WALKER was in the Car...figuring I could not go wrong that way...but now, for your reminder, it is decidely "in" and snug, and all is ready for Powder, Ball, and Caps! ( Soon as I get to the Range again, maybe, Tamale...)
I checked the Gap, since another Thread was wondering on that for fouling binding issues, and, all I can say, is that it is less than the thickness of a sheet of Typing/Printer Paper, which Paper it about .0035.
