Hi Forklift,

Those look nice...and Dragoons are among my favorites!

Hi articap,

You know, I thought about various options, and I did not want to mess up the crisp aperature there where the Wedge fits by improvising anything.

I even imagined that with the Barrel assembly off, that Cylinder is so long, that with light loads, Cylinder Bores acting as short Barrels, it could just about be a 'Pepperbox', if the Cylinder would stay back well enough for good ignition in firing.

Anyway, I filled my Flask up "Full" ( 'Peace Flask' ) in preperation ( ran out Range Trip before last, so Flask was empty! ) And checked everything twice!

Check out this link to pictures of a Walker that got auctioned at the Julia auction house in 2008. These are hands down the best pictures I've ever seen of an all original Walker in the finest known condition. I think this one got auctioned off for $1,000,000:

This auction house is only about an hour north of me. I went there a couple months ago and was in awe

Forklift -

Uh, well, actually, no. This is a Walker club, not a Dragoon club.

I take that back. You can play, you just can't vote or hold office.

Actually, since we don't have any votes and we don't have officers, that doesn't really matter.

Welcome in.

(But you really need to get a Walker someday.)

I was holding my breath cause some people call them 'walker dragoons'! Since there's no votes or offices, i'll just be the guy handing out lemonaid. :D

Well, there goes the neighborhood!!

Welcome Forkie  (Just Kidding - but get a MAN's Gun - not one of dem pussy dragoons! We guaranty you won't be sorry - and if you are, someone in this august group will take it off your hands for 1/4 what you paid for it - no questions asked. We're a goodhearted bunch.)

It is true though...Dragoons all by themselves, will pine for their Daddy.

A complete family is a happy family.

Finally got to try out Mr. WALKER today.

Very happy...smooth, solid, natural, shoots well, every shot where it was s'posed to be ( aiming about 6 inches low to do it, of course...)

Did about 40-odd rounds, some Ball, some Bullet.

Can't wait to get on out there again!

It is a 'Uberti', I got it used, but appears to have been left in the White, and, has a plain, no engraved Cylinder...and no conspicuous stamps or lettering. Stamps are on the bottom of the Frame, and, some lettering under the Loading Arm position on the underside of the Barrel.

All tolerences are impeccible, cocking and timing seem perfect and sound nice when done...fit and finish ( well, 'grey' of 'white' ) are excellent.

Cylinder is Numbered to the Revolver, and, has one 'peg' for the Hammer to rest on.

Bullets I was shooting today, are 'SAECO # 453', 230 Grain, .452-ish diameter, got from 'Western Bullet Co', and, loaded well with no dismount needed...going just enough in by Thumb, to be driven home by the Loader, fitting tight, no one crept forward in recoil. Some I loded backwards, others, forward...either way worked fine.

Glad to hear it went well for you.

I cast and load those same SAECOs in 45 ACP and 45 Long Colt for my S&W revolvers. Never tried them in a C&B revolver. From a cartridge gun, they pack a wallop! And can be very accurate.

Hi StrawHat,

These seem to shoot very well in my WALKER.

I do not think they would fit in my other Cap & Ball Revolvers which have slightly smaller Cylinder Bores.

Mr. Remington's Cylinder Bores are .445

3rd Dragoon, .445

Colt 1860, .443

WALKER, .452-ish

Heck of a note, huh?

Being only a little longer than the Ball, and of course flat bottomed, a pretty hefty charge can still go under them in the Walker...and, I bet they have a pretty good whallop indeedy.

I have some 180-something Grain .452-ish Flat Nose Bullets I got awhile back also, don't remember who's or what mold co-respondence, but forgot to bring them...seems like they would also work fine for Mr. "W".

Welcome Scout Dork !!! Fine lookin' pair there. I'm sure scrat'll be by soon enough to hook ya up with yer "ohfishal" membership number. One of these days... I'm gonna get off my duff and make myself a cross draw holster for my Walker, lined with smooth leather, and a skirt which is double layer to have smooth leather on both sides.

Here's mine. 3 Uberti's, and 1 ASM. I also included a pic of what I carry on my belt.

The photo should enlarge if you click on it- yes, it is a fluted '60 army, and the wife just picked me up a twin to it, so now I have 2 of the hardest to find (at least around KC) Uberti models.
Thanks!

I like the full fluted cylinders on the improved belt model revolver. Yours look sharp, I have a pair of 61s with the full flutes. Iron guard and backstrap. Perhaps you could post a photo of the pair in another thread?

Well...last Shot Mr.. WALKER on May 24th., 3F Black Powder and Home-Made Lube Wafers...having fired around 47 rounds or so.

Have not cleaned it yet...no hint of any 'rust' anywhere.

The condensed vapor of the Lube Wafers appears to inhibit or preclude any rust occuring...as I suspected it might.

Humidity has been up and down off and on the last few weeks...so, I will just leave it be and continue to monitor it.
