The Tragic Face of Defenselessness

Over and over, gun ban extremists claim that the best defense against attack is to call 911 and wait.

And over and over, bodies are broken and lives destroyed by criminals who stubbornly refuse to wait for police to arrive before terrorizing their victims.

That about sums it up, don't you think?

Yes, but the picture is the most powerful part of that story. I defy anybody to look into that man's eyes--the one that he can open, anyway--and tell me that he shouldn't have been allowed to protect himself.

These are the symbols the anti-gunners use against us; victims of violence, particularly the elderly and inform, women, and children. We need to put a face on the victims of defenselessness. We need to make the antis confront their victims every time they say "it's for your own good." We need to drag them down from their ivory towers and make them acknowledge the people they're rendering helpless. Statistics and numbers are great for backing up the point, but to really get a response, we have to invoke the same visceral response the antis do.

Flyboy: Well said, Amen.

There are lots of people who think that their massive level of enlightenment will allow them to smile beautifically as they offer themselves and their property unresisting, to their transgressors.

Then they learn that it hurts.

It hurts the body, it hurts the pocket, it hurts the soul, and it fouls the spirit, and it beats the human dignity to an unrecognizable pulp.

And then they get really, really PO'd, because they sooner or later realize that at some level, by not lifting a finger on their own behalf, they bear _some_ measure of the blame.

There is no virtue in defenselessness.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something.

Jogging at 5.00am ... and gets set upon! Makes me wonder if these thugs were not aware of his habits and had this well planned. The picture sure shows much - absolute travesty. Situational awareness and carry could have made this turn out oh so different - I wish him a speedy recovery but the scars will be long healing.

As ever - I feel incensed when comments are made about - ''don't put up a fight'', ''give them what they want'' ... ''call 911''. Those who make such assinine utterances should themselves be mandated to be on the receiving end of a beating ... then they can use (if lucky) their cell phone to call the paramedics out.

(Not sure what temperature blood boils at - but mine sure ain't cool)
