the UK has finally lost it

Well what do you expect when you put cameras up everywhere and tell people about it? They're criminals, they'll find a way to break the law without being caught. Hoodies are a good way to hide your face, eh?

Next I suppose they'll be calling for bans on floppy hats and long hair. Then comes the babushka. Can't be allowed to hide their faces from the nanny state, you know. I've got it, let's wear burkas! They wouldn't dare to call for a ban on those!

The alternative is to let the yeomanry have the means to defend themselves, but that would be too scary...

Man, I feel sorry for you guys. :(

Edit:

Dang! El Tejon beat me to it!

And of course, CCTV only helps catch the bad guys after an innocent has been shot, stabbed or beaten. It does nothing to prevent the attack.

Next I suppose will be the banning of umbrellas or using a newspaper to keep the rain off. Wouldn't it be terrible if Mary Poppins wasn't able to fly?

WOW, I can see the next step, everyone NAKED! no firarms hidden and no chance of hiding something, Hmmmmm

I'm thinking the UK is a great place for making money. Go there, rob a bunch of people, convert the euro to dollar, and bring the loot back to the states.

Actually, I think that if they just ban the evil black hoodies that they should be okay. I mean, when was the last some in a pink hoody mugged somebody? Ban the evil assault hoody now!!!!

I'm trying hard, but I can't quite convince myself that that's satire. I mean it has to be... people can't be that stupid, can they? Surely not...

Pardon me, I'm going to go make an imprint of my forehead on a nearby wall.

I work for an English company and have been over there more times than I can count in the last 14 years. I think the thing you have to keep in mind when you see these things is that there's a small vocal minority of people in the UK who feel the answer to everything is government control/banning. The whole political correctness thing has stopped the average Englishman (and woman) from telling these idiots how they feel about their behavior.

The scary thing is . . .I see this country headed the same way. (albeit about 20 years behind)

I'd say that 95% of the people I work with would find this type of "ban" mentality as stupid as everyone on this board . .it's the 5% (or less) that are driving this drivel.

I think I've seen a lot this type of government misbehavior in a lot of sci-fi literature/movies. Can you say 1984 or Brazil anyone? Getting very close to Minority Report (the movie).

I think Hitler probably started as the 5% minority.

So what would protect england from a hostile force coming in and invading there country. oh i know table legs.

We live in a "free" country but it seems that the Express would prefer us to live in some kind of Brave New World/1984 police state.
This response to the article caught my attention. My 1st thought was "You already do live in a police state, dummy. Where you been for the last 15 or 20 years?"

If you had courage, a desire for freedom and a willingness to be self reliant you left the UK in the 1700's. The remaining folks lacked those qualities, stayed behind and passed on the genetics.

Better ban hats also. The little devils very well could switch right over and start wearing hats. The sun set a long time ago on Airstrip One.

The tenacity in which some people will latch onto a falsehood that makes them feel better in order to avoid the truth astounds me. There really are people who when confronted with reality, just keep moving the scapegoat. First guns, then fake guns, then knives, now it's freaking clothes. They just cannot accept the idea that controling objects does not make the criminal mind go away.

First you have to accept that people are not responsible for their actions. Once you do that the rest is easy.

AR15 Rep, I saw an x-ray of a guy carrying a NAA mini revolver in the "trunk"...banning clothes doesn't quite do it, unless you have a remote government operated chastity belt, where you have to get Big Brothers permission to defecate.:what::barf:

Probably very effective fear factor. If I saw a guy pull a revolver out of his rectum I'd run away as fast as I could and hope he wouldn't shoot me with a load because it would be like punji stick poison :uhoh:

Britain has always been off the rocker, yet always find it within themselves to ciriticize our culture. Funny for a country thats ten times smaller than us, yet has ten times more problems.

Not too long ago, they were seriously considering the idea of collecting DNA from every baby born in Britain, so when crimes are committed later on down the road, they can pin them on people. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6172769.stm They already collect DNA from their criminals, real and statutory. The "medical" field wants to map out the genotypes of everyone born there. We all know whose hands that database would end up in.

And people wonder why I don't trust anyone who has coercive power?

Woodybrighton, My condolences. I hope that someday Parliament will pass laws giving back freedoms to English citizens. Of course they would first have to come to the conclusion that increasing restrictions aren't working.

To those that think that this is just another opportunity to bash Britain; How low road can you go? edit to add ( I don't mean for this to be misconstrued as encouragement)
