Posts: 22 It's a shame, Britain used to take NO **** from criminals til 50'60s I believe.

Even the police officers there, while I have no doubt in my mind they are good people, believe that only they should carry incapacitant spray, baton etc.

Well, I'm the only one that should be able to CCW. I can't trust the rest of you, but rest asured, I'll protect you all.

Hook, who do you think put Saddam in power in the first place?

Same people who trained bin Laden.

If you are willing to look around for it you can probably still find photo op shots of Saddam and Ronald Regan shaking hands after America sold Iraq a bunch of surplus tanks and weapons, including cultures of anthrax.
Yesterday they were our friends, today they are our enemies, tomorrow, who knows?

According to SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) the United States sold Iraq only 1% of its weapons. The former Soviet Union sold them 57% In fact they used old Soviet tanks.
Brazil sold them twice as much as America did, and Poland 4 times as much.

And here's a SHOCKER. Before Japan was our ally, it was our enemy, like when it bombed Pearl Harbor? And, yeah, same with Germany. Things change.

Shocking, isn't it?

Its those darn hoodies and crusty jugglers.... Seriously though, unless its cold outside, I'm not a fan of hoodies. But if I had the authority to ban them, would I? No, because you ban one thing, it generally snowballs, next, no baggy jeans, etc. till everyone had to wear mandatory uniforms. As some one mentioned before, indoors, the hoods should be removed, as well as sunglasses. Just my 2 cents, for what they're worth.

Oh brilliant! Then of course there will be some people will have prescriptions. They however must change to transparent glasses upon entering a public structure or will be in violation of the law, everyone else will simply be banned from wearing glasses indoors.

If you ban hoods indoors, then obviously some hats accomplish the same thing and need to be restricted as well or the hood law no longer makes much sense.
Pretty soon you will need a lawyer to know how to get dressed in that country.
How to enter and exit a building, and the difference between them and what applies in an outdoor public place in order to remain in dress code compliance will be a discussion you should have with your lawyer.
People will be confused and wonder if it only applies to buildings, or do the outdoors with an overhang count too? What about public transportation, is it legal to get on the trolley with them or will the wording of the law require removal?

What if your hands are full? I guess you better set everything down and remove your hat, hoody or glasses before continuing through the front door of a building. Of course filling your hands with yet another item like glasses or a hat might make carrying what your hands were already full of and opening the door a bit of a pain.

It is people such as yourself which don't really like it, but then excuse it in some instances, and sign away a little more liberty that end you up where you are.

It is why you need to consult legal advice to even exist as a human being.

Next up, baggy clothes, what constitutes baggy clothing under the law, and how to avoid breaking the law by wearing such "illegal weapon concealing garments."

I'm not sure he was saying that there ought to be a law about hoods and sunglasses indoors... there are lots of things that I think "ought" to be so, but I don't want to legislate them.

Don't forget umbrellas... :barf:

(Oops, sorry, bumbershoots...)

True, your right, but there are differences between eyes being dilated from just being at the Optometrist and the shifty lookin' fellow wearing the shades and fidgeting. Of course I wasn't saying there should be a law that states that all sunglasses and hoodies must be removed upon entry into a building. It's a slippery slope. I just generally trust people less when I can't see their eyes. Especially when they're wearing sunglasses indoors. Just my opinion, not case law. My apologies.

It would be interesting to see this same surveillance system established in the USA. How the flying hell can anyone expect Americans to abandon their hoodies (especially in centers of culture like L.A.). And what about baseball caps, particularly in the South? For crying out loud, next thing you know, they'd be coming after our guns! Larry the Cable Guy wouldn't stand for it. On the other hand, picture Joan Rivers in a burqa.

Nope, but I found one of Donald Rumsfeld doing that.

Anyway, back OT...

I wonder how many people realize that movies like V for Vendetta and books like 1984 weren't made merely to entertain.

I can't put into words quite how much I agree with both these statements. Thread's over folks. Move along. :D
