I'm drooling after this one...

Ruger SP101-style .500 Linebaugh Redhawk: An experimental piece done with an SP101-style barrel which is a more contemporary style than the usual factory Redhawk or our own L-frame pattern barrels. Adds a unique and purposeful look to what is otherwise a fairly mundane large-frame double-action revolver. Built in our favorite big-bore double-action .500 Linebaugh caliber, the gun is fitted with an integral compensator to help calm the considerable recoil. The barrel is 6 inches and features a DX-type base with provision for hand-detachable blades which, coupled with our Rough Country rear sight, enables shooters to apply a near-unlimited variety of sight heights and styles. In addition to the custom barrel, the gun sports the usual modifications from our cat. no. RD08 pkg. We expect to catalog this conversion along side the L-frame guns. As an aside, this gun was recently featured in a Guns & Ammo television program of big-bore revolvers which adds a bit of a provenance to it. Price is $3495; available for immediate delivery.

When I think SP101, I think pocket size, snubbie revolver.

While this is "interesting" I guess, I really don't see any similarities other than a similar shape to the barrel.

Not exactly what I was expecting to see when I opened a thread titled "ultimate Ruger SP 101".

I would have gone with " Modern Custom Redhawk"

SP 101 Style still implies 5 shot, pocket size snub in my opinion.

That's a LOOOOOOONG way away from a 5 shot pocket size snub.

My oh my aren't we testy today! I'll echo jeffmack, and I like it no matter what you call it.Thanks for posting it.

very nice but i have to agree about the grip looks painfull for such a large cal.
I like the rest of it. a SP on steroids

Nothing testy here, just saying that isn't what I expected when I opend the thread. Kind of like if a thread was titled... "Ultimate Petite Blonde", and I was greeted with a picture of Bridget Nielson in her younger days. Not what I would expect to see. :D

Super cool gun. Not sure the title would be attracting it's "target market" though.

If I were in the market for a large frame, custom big bore, I'd probalby blast right past the thread, given it's title.

.. but then again, what do I know. :)

Purty. Must be a beast. I would like a .50 Spl Redhawk, but that kind of want is out of my reach.

That is one sweet looking gun. Is it still possible to order it from Bowen? I couldn't find it on their site. Would you happen to have anymore pictures of it? I'd really like to see what it looks like from the other side.

Thanks,

Bodie

Yeah, but does it come in .22 LR, like SP101s used to? Maybe make it an 18 shot?

Don't think the porting would be neccessary though...

Oh lord, I just had a barrelgasm. Add to that the smooth cylinder... and hey, I just so happen to have $3500 in my pocket just waiting to be spent... no, that was a dream, dangit.

Okay, how about an unported three-inch "SP-101 style" barrel on a GP100 frame with a five-shot .41 magnum cylinder? (Four-inch would work, too.)
