20 or 40mm cannon? I doubt it, that's a lot of stress even for small turrets. Would it be cool? Hell yea!

Suv

People in California would be limited to a .30caliber MG 'cause the .50 is banned. Wonder what kind of licenses would be needed to have the unit in a "free" state?

I remember seeing a newspaper article about this probably 2 years ago. They're modified near where I grew up in Butler, PA. If I remember right they could be fitted with either the MG or a grenade launcher. Sales at least at the time were to governments only with most going to foreign governments.

I wonder how well they engage moving targets while moving themselvs and how fast they can switch from target to target.

Just kind of wondoing how well it would do against multible BGs at the same time. Still very cool though.

So... if you mount an M82 instead of a machinegun, you don't need any NFA paperwork, but would that count as open carry or concealed carry? After it's deployed, does it count as open carry or brandishing? (I don't think there's a concealed/open carry distinction for rifles in TX; I'm asking in general.)

eab, I think it would be adequate to end a car chase...

....and who hasn't wanted one of these in one traffic situation or another. A lot of cell phone conversations cut off abruptly....but now I'm gettin' excited!

Seriously, the only thing that makes this a really great system is the word "stabilized." Without it, you're shooting stationary, and with the kind of encounters this thing is designed for, that would be deadly. You just can't give a vehicle like this enough armor to stand up to any serious hits- you've got to be able to shoot on the move.

Had a conversation recently with a Navy officer who was on a patrol craft in the Persian Gulf. He said their forward mount was powerful enough, but with the boat moving was nearly useless if you expected any hits. The rear mount (basically a double; 25mm "Bushmaster" Mk38 and a grenade launcher) was stabilized, and was completely deadly, even at speed, in tight turns, or in rough water. The encounters they had during his tour were over, with the target destroyed, before the other side knew what hit them.

That looks like a fabric top on the vehicle that rolls out of the way. The muzzle blast must be something for the driver & gunner to experience. I can't say that I've ever been right in front/underneath a .50 going off :what: .

Very cool though  .
