The Unique GP-100

When you get ready to abandon those outdated Speed and Security Rugers, DM me.

There is currently only a chalk outline on black velvet, where the old Ruger revolvers are supposed to be on my gun shelf
In fact I’ll trade you a 6” GP 100

My wife and I run a business which depends heavily upon internet searches. We hired a company - owned and staffed by very pleasant folks from India - to manage our "search engine optimization". They regularly write and send to me articles for review prior to publishing them on our website and social media. And they read exactly like the sort of stuff published in The National Interest, along with a zillion other clickbait sites around the web. Random misspellings, odd syntax, basic factual errors...

I doubt "Kyle Mizokami" even exists. "His" work likely is a collaborative effort by some group which neither knows nor cares about anything gun-related, maintains dozens of such "enthusiast" sites on all manner of topics, and publishes templated gibberish for no reason other than advertising revenue.

You may have noticed the strange articles in The National Interest by Kyle Misokawa.

They are full of quotes such as this :

“the GP100 is unique in having the adaptability to fire two calibers, .357 Magnum or .38 Special,” and is therefore uniquely suitable for home defense.

If anyone likes reading articles while they shake their head and say, “What is up with this writer?”

then check out The National Interest
I finally managed to block this hack and his stupid stories.

^^^^ This. This times a million.

Well crickey
My Super Red must be unique too, as it's etched right on the right side 454 Casull 45 Colt

It is not just journalism majors. I have seen numerous posts on this and other gun boards "Is it safe to shoot .38 +P in my .357 Magnum?"

I've got one coming that the manufacturer doesn't recommend you fire 38s out of,, although it is more than capable of taking a load in a 357 case that makes the brass 1 fire and pitch..
tight tolerances will do that I reckon....

There really aren’t any “good” gun writers anymore. I loved reading Skeeter, Jourdan, Cooper, Taylor, Simpson ..... literally all of the guys writing back in the 80s. I guess they all passed away, I don’t really know, but no one writes today like the writers of yesteryear.

Also check out Col. Charles Askins for a good dose of un-PC.

Someone here on THR admitted to accidentally loading a 9mm round into a 40S&W magazine and shooting it out of a 40S&W pistol. Another unique pistol!

Would a 44 magnum cartridge fire out of a 454 Casull?

Maybe we should all ask our guns what they identify as be for we assume they’re cartridge. Let the gun decide what it is. :D

“44 magnum cartridge fire out of a 454 Casull?”

that goes against nature

Times ten million.

off topic, but I can’t talk to profs about literature, because they’ll hand me something clearly written by a committee of anonymous hacks and tell me it was written by such and such an author (ie by a “Kyle Misokawa”)

and I’ll just be smirking disrespectfully thinking, “there’s levels to literacy I guess”

I looked a couple of his articles. He is proof that a little knowledge could be a dangerous thing. He wrote an article about the 1911 where he describes John Dillinger’s modified 1911 that “could fire 1000 rounds a minute”.

There are way too many people out there in Internet-land creating blogs and articles they know little or nothing about.

The writer is an idiot, everyone knows his gun could shoot 1100 rounds a minute.

My point was that what these writers should say is “the gun fired at a rate of 1000 rounds per minute” or “the gun hate a cyclic rate of...”
This little trick of saying it “could fire 1000 rounds a minute” gives the impression that if you had a 1000 round magazine you could fire all the rounds in a minute.
In my opinion...
It’s a manipulative little trick they learn in journalism school to negatively sensationalize guns.
So, even if the writer is pro gun or wants to appear pro gun he has fallen into his journalism school trap of agenda driven word manipulation.

You must be involved in politics...........
I work for a large state bureaucracy and can say the same thing. :(
But we aren't allowed to be "political" at work - or in our private lives - unless it's promoting communism and totalitarianism "for the people's own good."
That's what I like about THR - I can get away from the constant brainwashing and B$ of Marxist agitprop.

Now, speaking of incredibly unique handguns, I'd like everyone to know I have a Ruger Single-Six that can chamber and safely - accurately! - fire at least six distinct cartridges: .22Long Rifle, .22Long, .22Short, .22CB, .22BB and .22Colibri. That's why it's called the "Single Six" because it can be loaded with six different kinds of ammo, singly.:)o_O:thumbdown:

I took a minor in public relations which required at least 20 hours in journalism. I took (and passed!) two "newswriting" classes. Journalists are taught to write at a 6th grade level in order to reach the broadest possible audience. According the AP and their "style-book" the average news reader has about a 6th grade level of reading comprehension and about an average 12 year old's attention span. The people who "know" the difference between a "hunting rifle" and a "fully-semi-automatic assault rifle" think you're the idiot.

Trying not to go too far into the weeds here...

Back in the early 90’s before the days of the Internet there were “Cable Access” community college courses one could take here in Southern California. Anyone could tune in if one had a basic cable package.
I worked a job where I had Friday and Saturday off. Friday mornings I would occasionally tune in to a couple of these courses. One was a course on “Journalism”.
Primarily the instructor taught about verbiage and it’s used in “conveying the message that you or ‘your news outlet’s’ wished for the reader to hear”. In other words, manipulation of the news.
Of special interest to me was the instruction he gave regarding the use of a photo of a gun displayed in any news piece involving death or violent crime to convey that “guns are bad”. This class included word manipulation like I mentioned above and the use of the term “assault weapon” whenever more than one person is shot or killed with a gun. He said, I am paraphrasing here; “If you don’t know what kind of gun is used assume it is an assault weapon until you know better...if and when you know better you can always report it or not.” He said the last part jokingly.
The other things he said that sent chills up my spine was the use of terms like “freedom fighter” vs “terrorist” or “insurgent”. He referenced the take over of Cuba and talked about the use of “Marxist communist” or “Communist” and the use of other terms to put them in a good or better light.
I watched 5 of this teachers 8 classes for that course and I must say it was quite an educational experience. I wasn’t signed up for the course but I watched anyway. The thing that bothered me the most. Only one student in the classroom would challenge him. One out of maybe 30 kids. That meant 29 soft mushy sponge heads absorbed this guy’s BS and moved on. That was the scariest part.

Sorry for the hi-jack. :)

I have a couple of those plus a lever action rifle that does the same thing.

Maybe my comment was tongue in cheek affirming the idiocracy of the writer. I'm aware of how the media works, I used to date a reporter (true story, she was hot)

Good story. I’ve brushed against the SoCal Community College infrastructure and it’s most def a hidey-hole for 60-something former CPUSA members

It’s been residing in my safe for years. Well the 4 inch version anyway which Ruger still sells today in a blued model ( I think).

Yup...just looked it up. 4 inch, seven shot in blue with a half under lug. Model 01769
It would be nice to see it as an 8 shot, assuming they could squeeze the extra round in there.
