Howdy, folks.
I'm curious to know what you think the cheapest FACTORY ammo is for a pistol. I mean a no crap pistol too, as in it shoots a pistol round and looks like a pistol (basicly no Kel Tec .223 pistols, AK or AR pistols). This is non-.22LR as well. I'm looking to get behind something that I can shoot for dirt cheap with factory ammo until the cows come home or I have to send it back to the manufacturer/gunsmith and get it right back out there. This will be something that I can grab after a tough day at work, take to the range and let the magic happen on paper until I'm happy again.

Well, I seriously think the 9mm is about as cheap as you are gonna get for a centerfire pistol round from the factory. :( Oh, or 38 special in a wheelgun, but it is slightly more expensive than 9mm.

Go NATO Go Cheap

9mm is the standard NATO pistol round. Also don't forget its eastern block equivalent, the 9mm short or Makarov.
The CZ 82 now available in large numbers, and the brown bear 95 gr. hardball the combination makes for very inexpensive real pistol shooting.
Can't beat the 9mm either way.
Recent prices
9mm American Eagle / Gun show 8.00/50 (brass case too)
9mm Makaorov 8.02/50 + freight Internet deal. steel case 95 gr. hardball
.16 cents a round shooting factory ammo ain't bad, especially these days.

7.62x25 is DIRT cheap is you shoot surplus ammo. www.sportsmansguide.com has 800 rounds of bulgarian ammo for ~$77. CZ52's can be had for ~$150. Romanian tok's for ~$225.

If you stay stictly with new factory ammo...9mm is the only way to go!

9mm new.

7.62 Tok for the bulk... Waiting for my C&R to get here... impatiently.... CZ, and a tok will be on there way here soon, Along with about 3k rounds of ammo.

9mm Para

Yeah, same as 9mm Luger, NATO standard. Cheap, available anywhere, on sale often.

People will debate until h**l freezes over whether it's effective, but it's the most prolific among any military pistol cartridge ever made, so there's plenty of opinion on the other side.:banghead:
