I've read that article several times over the last few days and nowhere does it address the "copycat" aspect. The closest it comes is saying mass murderers do not "snap". While this is true, it does not refute the idea that someone who has been in a steadily declining mental state will see this as the impetus to finally act out their sickness. stepping away from print and into the real world, there was already an attempted shooting in a theater which was stopped by an off duty deputy a mere day after the Sandy Hook tragedy. Coincidence? Or the result of a mentally deficient person being easily influenced?

I grew up in a time when “news” was considered unbiased, well researched, factual information that allowed the reader/listener to formulate one’s own conclusions.

Unfortunately, this virtue is now an extinct relic of the “good old days”.
