well, today's my birthday, and after a hectic morning, I cashed my paycheck and decided to celebrate by drooling over what I can't have. When I got to the gun store, I handled everything with a big grin on my face as usual. High end bolt-action rifles, used shotguns, military surplus...it was fun and it cheered me up.

I went over to the used pistol case and looked it over. Up on the top was this little black Taurus for under $300, before taxes. I jokingly asked my friend behind the counter if he could give me a "birthday discount", and sure enough, he did. $300 out the door, including taxes. It only had one magazine, so I asked if he had another, and he only had a used one, so he let me have it for half of his cost, only $12. If you're keeping score, that's $312 out the door. We made the sale, and as I was locking it in my truck's toolbox for the short ride home, the owner of the store himself came out and handed me a box of Blazer Brass 9mm FMJs, and told me happy birthday. That sealed it. They're my go-to guys for all my gun purchases now.

I got it home and gave it a quick cleaning, familiarizing myself with the controls, then took it out to give it a run. 12 rounds in the magazine, only one FTF, due to a bad primer(bulk box ammo from my dad. Goes to show you can't cheap out on EVERYTHING.)

It handled very well, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.
 
I bought a PT111 Millennium Pro Gen 2 around 2005 and it's been a good gun. I bet you like yours, too. The only malfunctions I've had also were ammo related, reloads. And it wouldn't fully lock into battery at first when I released the slide on the first round but then gobbled up the magazine fine. That stiffness cleared up after about 100 rounds. Taurus has its detractors but I've had excellent results from the two I have (the other is a M85 38 Special bought in 1994 ).

I believe I paid $269 for NIB with two magazines (it's also all black, the SS was $10 more I think). It was a sale at Sportsmans Warehous, the normal price was $285 I think. Anyway you got a great deal and I bet you love it. Nice birthday present!
 
From what I saw online, the PT111 Millennium Pros are up to $333 before tax now. Frankly, a few dollars doesn't bother me much. I had a particularly good paycheck, and it was one of those deals where you just knew if you passed it up, you'd regret it.

I like the pistol so far, I'd just like it better once I figure out how to switch the mag release for lefthand shooting. Being a southpaw's a drag sometimes.
 
I really like the looks of the PT800 series. How does it shoot? Your cat seems to be a happy camper back there
 
I had a PT111 MilPro, the one that was true DAO. I bought it used for around $250 five years ago. It served me well as a truck/car gun for a couple of years. I found it to be accurate and 100% reliable. I later traded it and have regretted that ever since. When I see another one just like it I will replace it. Considering the other weapons that I have I don't think that I will ever put it into a SD role, but I enjoyed shooting it.

BTW, if you come across older info discussing problems with the PT111 you will find that those issues were limited to the "pre-MilPro" guns. The MilPro guns sometimes get painted with the same broad brush, which is a shame. I only own one other Taurus, an early PT92AF, and along with that gun the PT111 MilPro are the only Taurus that I would want to own.
 
@HOOfan_1, the 840 I have shoots great. Aftermarket support for it is nonexistant, and my particular one seems to be picky about shooting Remington Bulk Box, but other than that, I love it. When I saw this Milpro, I just thought "That looks like the little brother to my pistol".
