Democracy and DC Gun Laws
Coalition Defends DC Against Congress

The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence has formed a coalition to defend the power of the citizens of the District of Columbia to decide by democratic means how firearms will be regulated in the city where they live.

DC has passed strong laws that have kept its citizens safe. Don't let Congress, which doesn't even have a voting DC representative, change the laws that elected DC officials have passed.

H.R. 5013, THE “DISASTER RECOVERY PERSONAL PROTECTION ACT”

STATEMENT OF JOSHUA HORWITZ, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, COALITION TO STOP GUN VIOLENCE

On July 25, 2006, the House of Representatives abandoned common sense and passed an egregious piece of legislation, H.R. 5013, that will have serious consequences for our nation's law enforcement officials. Claiming wide scale abuse of Second Amendment rights in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina,

Where to start. The whole group is nuts. Living in a fantasy land.

I challenge them to put a "THIS IS A GUN FREE HOME" sign on their lawn(s) and they will understand what a gun is and what it isn't.

Best,

:neener:

Ask drooling jim brady how safe he felt, and he had secret service agents within 1.7 seconds reach too.

Didn't they just declare a 'crime emergency' for DC recently? Yup sounds real safe.

If DC is their idea of safe, they are using some massively messed up dictionary.

All these recent losses must be affecting their brains.

That they believe the unrepresented in DC are safe is an intersting twist given the rising crime rates and all. Safe exactly where in DC?

That they are saying the democratically elected locals can trump the Congress, the Republic, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is facinating to me.

I like the fact these dishonest pacifists are being so specific these days. Their calling for common sence/reasonable gun laws prior to resonable censorship (genius BTW, wouldn't work nearly as good the other way), trying to reinterpret the word "is" etc  , just ensures they will loose.

People know where it's safe to live and wher it's not. Their successes will actuall defeat them, one crime victim at a time.

I sometimes wonder; Do they regret their position that made them fully unable to protect their own? You know, when they get that dry nauseated feeling when one human looks at another in that hunter kinda way?

I'm ramblin' later,

safe?!!

 i lived 5 blocks from the white house andmoved because it was scary after about 6:30. sad thing when a 30 year old guy who likes to fight is scared
