These gun cabinets any good?

I can use my CC reward points to get a $75 GC from Cabela's and with me adding a couple guns very soon, I need somewhere to put them.

Are these cabinets any good? I can't buy a super heavy safe as I will be moving this year.

I store all of my long guns in padded cases so I am not in favor of that style of cabinet. It screams gun cabinet and would take very little time to break into.

Just my opinion.

In a word no. If all you are trying to do is keep the kids away from the guns then they're better than nothing but can be compromised quite easily by anyone wanting in.

I do not have kids. I was just looking for something to be organized instead of gun cases lining my closet and getting in the way of other things I need out of there.

If you go to any good office supply store you can get a cabinet which is 32-36" wide, 16"deep and 60-72" high with locking doors and simply stand all your long guns up in it and use the top shelf for hand guns.

If you are inclined you can even add some security to it with large slide bolt and reinforcement on the sides.

Been there and done that. One time I gutted a 79" soda machine and used it. Since it was already built for security, it was a cinch to convert. Only problem was when people who should have known better put quarters in the by sodas.

Well, from someone who actually has the Stack-On cabinets, yes, they are adequate for storage and keeping kids away from your guns. I have both the large unit and the smaller on that sits atop it, and I am glad I bought them. They are perfect for my needs (simple gun and ammo storage), but if I feared theft from determined criminal types, I'd opt for a safe. These are made better than your average office cabinet.

I clicked on the add and it said $179.00. That's way to much to pay. It you're getting it for $75, then yes.

I have three of them (8-gun, 10-gun with smaller door and shelves, and 12-gun with center shelves). They serve my needs well.
