I check out these threads almost every day. They are starting to cause me problems. Not only am I buying way to many handguns, rifles and shotguns, now I'm having trouble deciding what to have next to my bed at night.

It used to be I felt fine with my Ruger GP-100 there at night.

Then I needed more firepower, and the Hi-Power came out of the safe.

9mm is no good I heard, so I bought a Colt .45 Gold Cup.

Can't carry that Gold Cup...too big for me. That led to the Baretta 21 in .25Caliber.

The .25 Caliber isn't powerful enough to be any good, like sticking someone with an ice pick, so I had to get the Colt Mustang .380.

Saw an Animal Control Officer try to put down a rabid racoon with a .380, and knew I needed a .357 carry gun...and my S&W 640-3 came home.

Preacherman talks about no pistol being the right weapon for self defense, so I order the Remington 870, but someone says the pellets deflect too much. so $625 goes for the Bushmaster .223.

Now I can't decide what goes in the drawer, what goes in the safe, and what stays beside the bed at night. My wife is wondering why the Electric bill is late and the car insurance is overdue. And I'm begging to think she suspects that all these guns by the bed aren't just "coming out of the safe for cleaning".

Good thing I have my Ruger Mod 1, Single Six, .357 SA, the double barrel 12 guage and those half dozen .22 rifles to fool her with, and the double barrel 12's and 20's almost look the same to her I think, but she started noticing that some are side by side and some over under. I told her they work that way.

Anyhow, no BG better come into my bedroom, cause I could do some serious damage just by throwing all these pieces of metal at them. Oh, did I mention the bayonetts and knives???

You are quite simply - in the universal (gunnie that is) situation of more and more ''stuff'' - a list that never gets shorter. Oh and a severely depleted bank balance.

Yep - everything is normal :D :p

get the weapon you want to carry, point it in the mirror while looking at it, and see which looks the most intimidating... I personally use my .357 works for me! lol

Blame the Gubmint.

The Internet spreads information, misinformation , and confuses folks quicker.

See in the old days one had to wait for "weeklies" , or "monthly" magazines...might not run into anyone at the hardware store, drug store barber shop to talk guns with for a few days.

Internet bore out of something originally wanted by and come up by DoD

Now is anything more confusing than the DoD? Exactly!

DoD is part of Gubmint...so blame the Gubmint.

See, that was not hard. You are not confused. The Gumbmint is .

Get what the hell you want - screw what the Gubmint says...

:)

You've got too much metal. You need some Glocks to balance out the ying with the yang.

I have to admit that I purchased a Ruger 3" GP100 and a S&W 442 because of reading about them all the time on these forums. I wanted to try each of them out and see for myself. I like both of them!

You fill your brain with all this gun-talk and it is only natural that you shoot more and want to try different things out. For me it started with Colts, moved to Smiths, and then to Rugers. What's next? I already know. Going to try out my first Taurus and perhaps a Dan Wesson revolver.

I have people tell me from time to time "I've got all the guns I need". My problem is I don't have enough money to buy as many as I think I need.:D

There's actually three different groups:

1:What you want

2:What you need

3:What you think you need

What you think you need usually ends up being more than you thought you wanted.:D

Use the 870 at home. Load it with anything except birdshot.

Carry whatever you want. If the .25 is the only one thats comfortable carry that.

Be happy that you have such a nice little collection coming along. When you get so many guns that some only ever see the range every few years its time to stop buying.

P'man is right.

Suggestion: first two rnds are #1, followed by 00.

Then come slugs.

They don't deflect, and have more mass than .223.

Just a thought.

LOL! I love this theory.

Feng shui firearm selection.

"Honey, I really didn't want to buy the Ruger, but I had to. My yang was all out of whack."

With all the guns you have, you should just lay them out randomly on the floor each night.. A BG will certainly trip and fall in the minefield you have laid out and bang his head on one.

He will be incapacitated long enough for you to pick the one you want to use.:D

Complain, complain, complain:cuss: ......With all them guns you most likly don't know how to use just one of them the right way:what: . put all your toys up and get a can of pepper spray:neener: , get the dog size:evil:

I can shoot a few of them Glocker

Glocker, I've had the Hi Power since I was a teenager, and the GP 100 since 1986. I put thousands of rounds through everything I own, and trust me, I am pretty darn good with a couple of them. It's just all the hype that gets me. If I was back to my GP 100 and my 12 Guage double, I think I'd be pretty well stocked. Hell, If the dog doesn't wake me up, I'd probably sleep through the whole thing anyway....right to the wake! :what:

WHAT "NEED"???

WHAT IS THIS TALK OF "GUNS YOU NEED".

NEED BETTER HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS, OR
MY WIFE WILL START WINNING THE DISCUSSIONS.

IT IS PURE GRATIFICATION, NOTHING ELSE.
(LEO's ARE THE EXCEPTION
-THEN THEY ARE TOOLS)

I DO THINK YOU CAN HAVE ENOUGH GUNS,
BUT WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH
THE NEXT ONE YOU PURCHASE.

THE ONE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS.

LOTS OF GUNS - NOT ENOUGH TIME.

Sorry, but that's utter crap. I have a specific NEED and purpose for every gun I own. Guns for nearly everyone here are tools, not toys.

And LEOs are not some superior race; nor are they reigning deity. If it weren't for the spineless socialists that seem to have taken up residence in the legislature since the early 1900s, the police would be armed the same way as John Q. Public, as the founders had intended. May I suggest some reading: The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution (Including the Bill of Rights and its Preamble), the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers, and the writings of Thomas Jefferson.

LEOs are not genetically engineered prodigies, and they are not Jedi. Why do they "NEED" to have so much firepower that we peasants can't have? Are LEOs somehow more trustworthy? Are their lives worth more?

What?? No .308 battle rifle? You have been told about the relative punyness of the 5.56 right? Yep, you NEED a battle rifle.

Lighten up Francis,

I have a specific NEED and purpose for every gun I own. Guns for nearly everyone here are tools, not toys.

You are confusing rights, wants, and needs..I have a specific use for every gun I own, therefore it would be defined as a tool.

What you and I do not have is a need for any of those tools.
Ownership and use of firearms are a right granted by the Constitution
(I am a Jeffersonian Republican in case you cared)
I am willing to defend your right to own the gun you want, but do not mistake desire for need.

LEO's are not sent by a heavenly body, they just have a requirement (need) for the right tools. I know a number of LEO's and they are mere humans, flawed as we all are. A carpenter needs a hammer, a cop needs a gun.

and as far as 5.56 vs 7.62....I have plent of both and 50BMG is fun too.

I do the same thing...Then remind myslef that many a person has done a dandy job of defending themselves with a 4" Model 10. I ponder that for awhile and promptly go right back into second guessing mode and the cycle starts over again. It really doesn't make sense though...but, they don't eat much...they don't take up too much room and they appreciate in value.

Firstly: The Constitution doesn't grant rights -- rights are granted by God (or Nature, if you prefer). The Constitution just makes those rights "officially recognized."

Secondly, we all -- as citizens of the United States -- have a duty and a NEED to stay armed to the equivalent of the Police and the Armed Forces. It's all there in the reading material I cited earlier.

By claiming that police have a need for weapons when we, the citizenry, do not is laying the groundwork for exactly the inequality complex (us vs. them mentality) that we have nowadays.

We do have a need for weapons -- all of us. It's simply the modern-day "gentler, kinder world" view that has convinced society that we don't.
