I am shooting IDPA, CDP class using my DW Heritage 1911. My problem is I have large hands and have a hard time aquiring a prper grip duing the draw. Any suggestions on who makes a great quality competition grip that is thicker then the standard 1911 grip?

Thanks

I suggest that you experiment.

Take off the present stocks and get a piece of thick cardboard. Trace the outline of each panel on the cardboard. You can use a .22 or .223 fired case as a hole punch. A leather punch works fine too.

Put the cardboard spacers on the pistol and then the stocks. Then try it out to see if it works. If necessary add additional spacers until you find what you like. You may find that more on one side then the other works best.

One last hint. Genuine stag grips, or plastic copies are often thicker then normal. I'm not sure what other competitors might think, but what works, works. ;)
