Best wishes with your move. I can't remember if you are moving out of state or to another house and/or apartment.
My firearms and ammunition would not be too bad for me to move although the ammunition would be heavy. The rest of my books and 'stuff' would not be too bad.
My groom aka husband's guns and gun STUFF would be heavy. Not counting his/our food/water emergency supplies.
Try moving out of a big house/big 36x24 garage with loft/small barn and land that you built and lived in for over 30 years. Been there - done that after my late husband died. The easiest way to do that is to not let things get too bad and/or FULL of 'stuff' your entire life. The big house was easy, the big garage was organized but had a lot of tools and STUFF that we needed for ALL seasons, bad weather, etc. The small barn was a breeze. Always neat and organized - we lived that way. My GUN stuff included a cleaning tool kit box, about 10 guns from 13 or so, and ALL of the ammunition that I needed for those guns of mine. The rest was packed up in my Explorer and a Coleman pop up camper. What did not FIT in there, including some books, did NOT go with me. It made things Very Simple. I sold, donated things and gave close friends my STUFF. I did mail a few things to my brother and sister. They did not need anything from my house because they had their own homes.
I hope that you don't have to pay for those 'storage places' that I see people cram full of STUFF and never use because they do not donate, or give to friends/family.
Best wishes to you and take care - don't hurt yourself with HEAVY lifting.
Sincerely,
Catherine
PS: I got quotes from do it yourself MOVING rental places and 3 moving van companies. The FEW things that I was thinking about taking with me cost MORE to MOVE than what I thought it was worth. I did not want to pay for storage either! I have never done that and do NOT intend to do that EVER! I had some friends ask me about the Ethan Allen, PA House, misc. furniture, clocks, lamps, paintings, rugs (I had oak floors in the entire house except for the kitchen and 2 bathrooms.), etc. Most of THAT stuff did not even have to be 'sold' through my moving cross country, estate, house/garage/barn sale paper AD in the Trading Post.
