Think I made a boo boo?

I posted this in another forum and was looking for suggestions.


Anybody ever buy a scope for a gun that will be double duty hunting/target and got just a little too much in the way of power for one or the other? I just got a Leupold 4.5-14 40mm and put it on a non savage and think it is going to be a little much for the hunting side of things. I was going to ebay it but after paying more than 500.00 for it I am in a dilema(sp?) and the NY deer season coming I can't wait. Any suggestions? I checked samplelist.com and they have a trading program but the inventory is weak.

What are you hunting? 4.5 - 14 doesn't seem like too much. Leave it on 6 and don't touch it while in the field.

Myself, I don't think a 4.5-14 is that bad for those purposes. You can leave it at 4.5 if you're hunting (considering most "hunting" scopes start out at 3 power)

I would just set it & forget about it while hunting...maybe 6 to 9 max.
