Think I made the right choice??

Was at the store today and was flirting back with some pistols who were giving me the eye.

I flirted with:

Kimber Ultra Carry stainless/blue (Blue slide, SS frame with beautiful rosewood grips) $779

HK P2000 .40 subcompact LE model $789

HK USPC .40 (Standard safety, no mag lock) $675


I ended up buying the USPC .40 for $625 NIB.


So far so good, but now it's eating at me to go shoot.


It came down to the P2000 and the USP pretty quick as the Kimber looked like it had a lot of areas that would catch on a holster, and I'm seriously considering this being a carry weapon. (but honestly not 100% yet).

The Kimber was by far the prettiest of the bunch, but the price of the USP really had me going. If it was the same price as the others, I might have gotten the Kimber.


What are ya'lls thoughts??

Have you shot the USP before buying it?

If you shot the guns before making a decision, then you'd be content with your purchase.

I've shot a USP full size, but not the compact.

Have not shot a P2000, but I have relatively small hands, and the grips felt a bit cramped even for me. (Although still rather comfortable)

Have shot many a Kimber...like most all of them.


I liked the sights on the HKs better, and I liked the trigger of the USP best....but did not specifically shoot any of the three I looked at/purchased.

That's just my concern, because I wouldn't want you to purchase a handgun and you end up unsatisfied with the results.

The USPs are really popular handguns so you can't go wrong with that. Plus, you got it at a great price!

In a compact size-therefore shorter barrel and in .40S&W, it'll feel like you're shooting a 10mm. FUN!!!

The P2000 is a bit forgiving because you can switch out the grip's back straps to meet your small hands.

I'm glad you got the standard trigger. The LEM is such a strong trigger pull, that I focused too much on the pull rather than the sights.

Yeah, I got the .40 because I've got a Taurus PT145 subcompact .45 that is just too much for a follow up shot with any speed or accuracy.

I thought the extra weight/size of this would allow for easier second shots.

You'll like the HK. Very reliable, well built. I have a USPc 45. I've never had a FTF, FTE or any malfunction of any kind.

I never understand people who ask this question AFTER they've made the purchase?

If you're satisfied with your choice you made the right one. You don't need internet support telling you, "Yeah, you done good." And, if all the responses say, "No, you screwed up" what are you going to do about it anyway except kick yourself. Life's too short. Enjoy what you got.

As for me, I would have preferred the Kimber. Admittedly I am biased as a 1911 platform guy and a Kimber owner. My Kimber is the most accurate handgun I own and that manufacturer's list also includes Glock, Sig, & S&W.

By the way, the "catch on the holster" concern is needless. I carry a Kimber Compact. 1911s wouldn't have survived for nearly 100 years and been a U.S. military weapon if they couldn't be gotten out of holsters without snagging.

I'm not asking the question as if I'd take back my gun based solely on the 100% accurate, consistent and always parallel to my thoughts, opinions of random people on the internet.

We all know guns are subjective based on a variety of variables...hand size, purpose, inherent likes/dislikes etc etc etc.

I was only asking to get a cross section of what other people thought. I chose the HK USP compact...who would have chosen the Kimber and why, who would have chosen the P2000 and why (Do they like the lack of a safety?), etc.

I don't need any advice on which to purchase...it's a little late for that, but I DO want to hear what others would have done just for ****es and giggles.

Excellent deal on the USPc!

The USPc chambered in .40 is my normal carry weapon. It's not too big for carry, but it's not so small that the .40 is uncomfortable to shoot--in fact, I find it much easier to shoot than my wife's Kahr PM-9.

Be sure to give us a range report as soon as you can!

I have a USPc in 9mm. Love it, so easy to use and take care of as well being a solid pistol. I must say I like the P2000, but its quite a small little guy. Have you ever though about a Sig? I have both and am just itching to get both at the range for a side by side.

congrats, great choice and it sounds like a deal to me.

also be aware that not everyone has the luxury or ability to try guns out before they buy them, yes it is a great thig to do and always best if you can, but if you can't then you make the best decision that you can at the time, i am sure that you will love it. they are accurate, reliable, heck it's an h&k,
