While I was cleaning my Remington 870 I removed the trigger assembly by removing the push pins just like the instructions said. I forgot to put the safety on and while it was completely removed I touched the trigger and the hammer dropped.
I continued reading the instructions and it specifically said never to let the hammer drop while the trigger assembly is removed from the gun. I reinstalled it and it worked fine (cycled dummy rounds).
I'm just wondering if something might be broken that I didn't catch and if this is a serious issue before I go to the range.
Any ideas why they specifically mention this in the direction booklet?
Thanks in advance for your input...
