i am thinking about buying a benelli super black eagle II or M2. want to start shooting clays and doing some duck hunting. any thought on the benelli's would be helpful. i am leaning towards a 28" barrel. Thanks

Benelli's

I have owned several Benelli's over the years and as well as having issued a Benelli one time. I currently have a SBE and a Montefeltro .20GA, the Benelli that I would like to buy is a Cordoba in .20GA. If i were looking for a clays and ocassional duck gun I would check out the .12Ga Cordoba, its a 3" chamber not a 3.5 like the SBE, I think it would be the best of both worlds.

If you want 3.5" (good idea for steel shot, IMO) the SBE2 is your gun. Keep in mind that its receiver is a bit longer than 3" guns, so you may want a bit shorter barrel for the same OAL. For instance my 870 with a 26" barrel is the same length as my SBE with a 24" barrel.

As someone who doesn't especially care for Benellis, or even semiautos really, I'll have to say this:

The Cordoba is a SWEET shooter! Fits me like a glove, feels GREAT (neat surface treatment and nice ergos). Costs as much as a decent O/U, looks no better than an AR, but man it shoots like a dream.

Tried one and wanted one.

I bought a SBE, left hand, last fall. I've used it on quail, pheasnt, deer and shot sporting clays with it. I think it's great. I done sporting clays 7 times, the last 2 with the SBE. Scores went from the 23 to 25 range to 36 and 38.

After heart surgery 2 years ago the only 12ga. I could shoot with was a buddy's M2. I dislike autos, always had. After 2 rounds of skeet, got my own M2, love it.

my dad got the SBE2. we've used it on pheasant, dove, snipe, and a LOT of duck. gun with cycle anything from like 2 3/4 to heave 3 /12 inch loads. and it has NO kick to it at all. great gun and definitely worth buying
