I guess I'm in an H&K kind of mood now. I'm really liking the looks of the P2000SK.

I'm looking at the variant that is DA/SA with the decocker. I think it's referred to as Variant 3. I looked on CDNN and they had them for roughly $670 or so.

I read that these can use the mags from my USP compact, which I have a dozen of.

Can the P2000SK also fit into the holsters that I have for my USP compact?

What are your thoughts and opinions on the P2000SK?

What does it do smoother or better than my USP compact?

Yes to using the same mags, but they will stick out from the bottom of the grip as the SK is shorter.

No, on using the same holster. The SK is a different size (subcompact). Getting a SK myself in a few weeks. :)

The P2000 is wider than the USP, so it will not propely fit the same holster. The modular grip may give you a firm, tight hold on the P2000 even though the grip is about 1/2" shorter.

$670 appears to be a good price. Usually $700+ around here.

:) $670 new? that's reasonable. i wonder how people always complain that they cost more while it works right out of the box better than their $1000 jamomatic.
the SK is a bit too small for me though so I bought the regular one instead

Not quite sure about that, there might be some cross compatability with different holsters.

For my SK, I generally carry it in a Galco Mister Softy which is fitted for a Glock 26/27/33.

Secondary holster (when I have to tuck my shirt in) is a Galco SKYOPS for the Glock 26/27/33. I also have a Galco SKYOPS for the USP C 45 which accomodates the SK very well.

Then there's a High Noon P239 holster (OWB) which fits the SK perfectly. However I perfer IWB therefore it doesn't get that much use.

The P2000 and USP Compact are the same size, with the biggest difference being the P2000 also having a right-side slide release. The slide on the 2000 is a little more "rounded" or "beveled", but holsters still fit fine.

I carry a 12-rd (.40) USP Compact mag as a spare for my SK.

Some USP Compact holsters will work with a 2000SK depending on their design. You've got roughly an inch less length and the right-side slide release to worry about. Most leather holsters will open up enough to allow the slide release to fit, but you may have some dead space at the bottom due to the shorter barrel. I have a Don Hume USP compact JIT-slide holster that I use with mine, it works very well (was a little tight at first). I also have an Uncle Mikes USP Compact paddle holster that works. On that one I had to dremel out a groove for the slide release, and I also chopped off about 3/4" of extra length (I figured what the heck, it's a $15 holster...).

Another option, if you're right-handed, is just to remove the right-side slide release. I think it will come right off without affecting any functionality.

The p2000sk .40 lem is my favorite gun. It's really slim and compact, yet very shootable.

I love the lem trigger because it's double action but the pull is very light. I didn't like the da/sa usp compact because when I shot it, the single action was very very light.

If you are interested in one of the subcompacts definitely get the V3 SA/DA with decocker. The holster I used was the Comp-Tac CTAC tuckable IWB. I think it was a P2000 holster but the SK fit perfectly.

The LEM trigger is not bad but it really kills the resale value of the gun, if you find out it doesn't work well for you.

I had a P2000SK 9mm with LEM and I couldn't get rid of the thing. The only issue I had with it was the little gap between the bottom of the grip and the finger extension. I tended to get my flesh pinched in that little gap every time I fired. I ended up selling the gun at a $250 loss just to get rid of the thing. Everyone I talked to wanted a V3 and not the LEM.

(Sigh) no one wants that crummy LEM. Yecchh. If anyone wants to dump their P2000SK 9mm LEM by all means get rid of it. You should be happy to get anything at all. Let me know and I'll see what I can do.

he really ought to be buying gold bullions or real estate for resale value, instead of guns.
LEM here. didn't really need another sa/da as I already have it in my USP 9 and USP 45. :)

What are your thoughts and opinions on the P2000SK?
It's an HK. What else is there to say?
