Thinnest 9mm

That Unobtainium Kimber is reputed to be pretty thin as well (and it's a double-column mag, as was asked about) - it's supposed to come out in .40 first, and then 9mm.

We'll see . . .

Its a single stack but you only give up two rounds. Its not that much thinner that I'll be trading in my P-11 though. I'm pretty happy with it.

The Rohrbaugh and the new PF9 if and when it finally arrives are both single column magazines. The P11 has to be the thinnest at 1" and carries up to 12+1 rounds in a pocket size package. You can get S&W 5900 series magazines with an adaptor that extends the grip for it, too, making it a 15+1 round gun. I tried aftermarket Smith mags, though, and they didn't work. I've been assured that S&W mags do work in it, though. That is one of the selling points to cops looking for a BUG for their Smiths. You could carry the Smith mags IWB easier than carrying the Smith and have full size firepower in a very thin, small handgun.

I have a P-11 and use S&W 469 series 12 rnd mag and they work exceptionally well.

Erich:
I believe that the Kimber is actually machined from Nonaffordium. Unobtainium is soley liscensed to Colt and Freedom arms.:)

My 6906 is just under 1 3/16, with a little judicious work with a sander, it would be pretty easy to get it down under 1.125 maybe even thinner. I have no idea if someone offers slimline grips. the gripframe is just about 31/32's. Son has his Hi power locked up and I am pretty sure it is a tad thicker than this. but not sure, I know someone makes ultra thin grips for the HP made out of aluminum and/or G-10.

I don't know much because I only own a Beretta 92FS. However, the local gun shop has a CZ75B in 9mm and they have a 9mm Browning HP with wood grips. In my opinion the CZ comes close to fitting my small hand almost as much as the BHP does but the BHP is a smaller grip.

Without a doubt, the thinnest grip based on your criteria would be the Magnum Research Baby Eagle. Heavy SOB, but slim in the grip. Its a double action, double stacked 9mm. It is loosely based the CZ design. Not cheap to buy, but not too expensive to keep as safe queens. Let's face it, we all make our purchases based on pride of ownership. On my list of things to buy.

What really bothers me about modern pistols is that most have ugly and blocky slides.

The only ones that seem to not have the blocky slides are the BHP and 1911 pistols.

What are the BHP's measurements ?

I got rid of mine a while back but I remember looking at it next to my G17 and it wasn't much thinner. The "blockiness" someone mentioned may be a factor but in reality the G17 is compact for what it is.

My BHP had an ambi safety and was actually wider than a G17 at it's widest point (the safety).

My BHP has an ambi safety too and as you say, with the ambi safety is not that thin.

But one of the things I really like about the Highpower is, it does not feel bulky.

There are other pistols that are not much thicker than a HP, but they just feel so much bigger and bulkier.

BHP vs BDM: I don't have a gauge in front of me, but I believe the BDM is thinner. (I've got one.) Likely, the "ears" of the ambi decocker/safety stick out farther, but overall it's a slimmer package. Double-stack 15+1.

THIN IS IN!

A great thin compact 9MM handgun, which I own
two, is the double stack SKYY ARMS CPX1. Great
gun and it appears to be a much better modified
KEL-TEC P11. Best of all, under 300.00 new with
two mags.

The Kimber Aegis should be pretty thin...perhaps even thinner than an RCP. Somewhere in the vicinity of an inch, I'm guessing.

I don't have measurements with me, but the Vektor CP1 is very slim. With no protrusions on either side, it is very comfortable to carry.

I have to take issue with the way some people measure the thickness of the weapons we are discussing. In my experience it is the thickness of the slide and grip that has the most bearing on the carriability (is that a word??) of the weapon. Yes my BHP is thicker at the ambi safety, but this has almost NO bearing on its overall thickness in the big picture. It would measure wider than a GLOCK ot that point but with its slimmer slide it is WAY more slim and comfortable to carry.

By the way, that pic of the STAR BM is GEORGEOUS. GOtta get one.
