He ran into the one policeman that just might have shot him out of ignorance of the law. He is lucky backup got there in time.

It will be interesting to see how Fiorino's trial comes out. The charges are obviously trumped-up but a lot will depend on the admissibility of Fiorino's audiotape and whether Fiorino's attorney can create a sense of outrage in the jury.

Shouldn't cops be required to be at least reasonably familiar with the basic provisions of the laws they are supposed to enforce? Does any cop brighter than a baby room nitelight really think that an actual criminal would open carry a bulky holstered pistol on a city street in broad daylight? While it's true that a few LEOs around the US are shot by illegally armed criminals every year, that doesn't mean that law abiding Americans should be forced to give up the precious liberties supposedly guaranteed to us by the Bill of Rights. Cops who willingly accept the risks that accompany that job should be well paid and well respected. But LE isn't for would-be petty tyrants who crave power over their fellow citizens, and those few who want the authority without accepting the inherent risks shouldn't be in LE to begin with.

In spite of what I may say about this unacceptable act by a petty tyrant in Philly, I truly respect the vast majority of LEOs who are willing to accept the very real risks associated with enforcing the law without intruding on our Constitutional rights, and I grieve for those who don't come home unscathed at the end of the shift. But I don't respect the few who abuse the power we give them by bullying and threatening law abiding people who are committing no "crime" other than exercising a Constitutionally protected right that the LEO doesn't happen to like. An authoritarian urban area LEO may not like the 2nd Amendment RKBA that we mere "civilians" are given by God at birth, but he or she IS obligated to respect it.

Liberal judges have now become our actual rulers who blatantly misinterpret laws to suit their prejudice against our God-given rights, and they rule over the US like Imperial Rome's Caesars without any regard whatsoever for the Constitution's safeguards. If their bleeding hearts didn't bleed exclusively for vicious criminals they would keep the urban savages who are the real threats to LEOs and the puiblic in prison for the entire sentence they were given, and a great deal of our urban area crime problems would be eliminated. Twenty years should mean 20 years, not 3 or 4 and then back on the mean streets to rob, rape, and kill more innocent victims. If parole boards think it's good policy to reward acceptable behavior by releasing prisoners after 1/3rd of a 10 year sentence is served, then judges should make the sentence 30 years in order to insure that the perp serves the full 10 years that he or she deserves.
