This is kind of amusing, in a sad way.

I stumbled on the brady bunch website while looking for michigan laws. There's a Q&A about the AWB.

Q: What is the difference between semi-automatic hunting rifles and semi-automatic assault weapons?

A: Sporting rifles and assault weapons are two distinct classes of firearms. While semi-automatic hunting rifles are designed to be fired from the shoulder and depend upon the accuracy of a precisely aimed projectile, semi-automatic assault weapons are designed to maximize lethal effects through a rapid rate of fire. Assault weapons are designed to be spray-fired from the hip, and because of their design, a shooter can maintain control of the weapon even while firing many rounds in rapid succession.

designed to be fired from the hip?? last i checked, you can't hit squat shooting from the hip

there's more "comedy" here: http://www.bradycampaign.com/facts/faqs/?page=awb

I can hit the ground when hip-shooting, but other than that.....

And the Brady Bunch, et al REALLY torque me off.

I fired an assault weapon from the hip once...no, sorry...SAW is Squad AUTOMATIC Weapon, not Squad Assault Weapon.

Anyway, we had lots of extra ammo and nobody senior around once on a range in Macedonia...and it took me 3 or 4 bursts to hit an E-type silouette 5 meters in front of me. All bursts prior to the on target one hit the ground.

This "spray-firing" and "hip-shooting" stuff is just the latest nonsense from the Brady Bunch. Okay, so you might be able to hit stuff from the hip if it's standing right in front of you, but couldn't the same thing be said for almost ANY gun? If you were really after "hosing down an area," wouldn't a common, concealable semiautomatic pistol be a more logical choice for a criminal? (of course they'll never go after a handgun ban...yet)

And every time the sunset date comes up they argue AK47s will begin "flooding the streets" to scare the ignorant. Ugh! :banghead:

I used to use a 10/22 from the hip for rapid fire can chasing, had no problem chasing cans out to 50 yards or so...

I can do the same with an full auto UZI (firing short bursts of course, and only 1 outta 5 or so hitting), never tried with anything larger..

But they certainly aren't designed for that, and why bother (except for fun).

This is a good thing if we can exploit it. All we need to do is demonstrate to the public that this is incorrect, while acknowledging them as not being ingnorant fools, because if they aren't ignorant fools, then they are obviously liars. And if they lie about this, it is reasonable to expect that they lie about other things.

That's a good idea.

The next time an opportunity to debate a Brady member arises, get a firearms instructor, preferably with some miiltary/police experience in that capacity, to expose their ignorance in public.

Grnzbra, "Anti's" aren't interesed in truth, logic, or common sense. If they were, they wouldn't be "Anti's." Sorry.
