I took my late father's Jim Zahm built Model 70 in .25-06 to his range and shot for groups at 100yds and to do a video for my YouTube channel.

Brought a box of factory Federal Fusion ammo and a cartridge holder full of ammo reclaimed from the fire.

The factory stuff wasn't bad...

But the mystery loads were exceptional!

It will be a challenge to figure out the load, but I fell in love with this rifle!

If I might venture a guess? Those look just like the Nosler ballistic tips that my grandpa ran out of his model 70 25-06. They were 100 gr that he used. And shot very well. If memory serves, he ran 4831 and 4350(don’t recall which variants).
That is certainly one very beautiful rifle. Wow!

The verticle stringing of your best group is probably caused by resting rifle on barrel. Which is a no-no. (See video, post #9) Rest rifle on forearm of stock when shooting from bench. Also, try 5-shot groups, which is more revealing. Good luck.

Good shooting! Gorgeous rifle!

I am sorry for the loss of your father. I lost mine in 1980 and it is tough to deal with.

A big WOW on the rifle. It is absolutely beautiful and a great shooter with the right ammo. Have fun finding the right modern combo to replace the old.

It actually was resting on the forearm. Just looks like it wasn't due to poor lighting and the angle.
