Been so wrapped up in my 38's since venturing into the 38 Super Duper club that today I revisited the .40+ club. Brought my model 629 and a .40 Super ( 10mm to you sillymeter guys) to the range with me today. Loaded up 100 rounds of .44's using 240gr, Missouri bullet Keith style SWC on top of
7.6 gr. of Universal clays, excellent round very pleasant to shoot with exceptional accuracy.
Next up was the 40 Super, had 50 rounds of 180gr. Rainier plated hp's loaded up with 6.0 gr of Universal clays, nothing to brag about accuracy wise but then I also had 50 rounds of the same bullet loaded on top of 11.gr of AA#7 which was very accurate.
Can't explain why but I have always shot the 40's and over better than the smaller calibers.
Of course you folks realize that at my age 7 yards is the new 25. :p
