After spending two months doing recovery work in NOLA, I made it back home in time for the last week of Indiana's firearms season. My son was drawn for the lottery at Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge, and selected me as his partner. I was able to harvest a nice buck on the first day. Then, a few days later, I bagged a large doe much closer to home, in Harrison Crawford State Forest. It's been a good year! Now to see how I can help my son get on the scoreboard during muzzleloader season....
I used a .50 cal Omega with 248 gr. Powerbelts on both deer. Pass thru heart-lung shots on both; the buck at about 100 yards, and the doe at 30 yards. Exit holes indicate good expansion. I love that rifle!
