Well, i'm looking for a rifle. the Thompsons' have had my eye for awhile, but i have question [as stated in title :D]

First how hard &/or easy / legal is it to convert Thompson center pistol to rifle.

which has more choices in caliber the g2 or encore.

how is the pistol accuracy past 100-200 using anything from .223-.308

does it come in 7.62X54R [kinda like that bullet you know :) ]

Are their 12GA pistol barrels or would that be considered making a AOW

is this good for possible militia use if backed up by shotgun.

What is the going rate for a "basic" g2 or encore

I think that's about all of my questions. Thanks in advance.

It's OK to convert a T/C pistol to a rifle or shotgun, but not the other way. They change very quickly, a screw (or two) for the forend, push out the hinge pin, reverse.

The Encore probably has more choices from custom makers because it handles larger calibers.

I only own rimfire and revolver calibers in T/C's, so I'm no help on long range accuracy.

I'm sure somebody makes a 7.62x54r barrel.

The only pistol shotgun barrels are .45Colt/.410 bore with rifling because of legal reasons.

Not the ideal militia gun IMO, just grab the shotgun.

Search Gunbroker.com to get an idea of prices.

My favorite barrel maker:

They have a list of calibers available.

oh hey it got moved. okay thanks for the info. so all the rifle parts and pistol parts are interchangeable [i.e start with pistol make rifle later]. Also i think if that's normal going rate i won't be getting one for a little while. :)

I think you can do a lot better than $800. I bought my G2 as a frame with grip and forend for about $425 IIRC. You could start with a used barel from Ed's T/C's.

will you have to do the whole ffl thing if you buy it in parts like that?

only for the frame.

Bear in mind that the G2 will not handle the pressure and or breach thrust 7.62x54r generates, for that you'll need an Encore.

OR buy a $240 Handi rifle in .308win and rent a 7.62x54r reamer for $40.............use a 500S&W extractor and well you know the rest.

well i figured the encore would be a better choice with all the calibers popping up for it. although after reading a bit more i'm worried about accuracy. this is suppose to be something that's suppose to reach out where my shotgun can't.
