Not lost. Mjolnir is on my reloading bench:

That's a NOE 3589 clone .359" 280 grs in a 35 Krag case. At 1750 fps from this little Handi Rifle, it is an extraordinary Hawg Thumper:

So, I'm recommending the Buffalo Bore .45-70 500 gr FMJ-FN
I wonder what bullet they're using. They say 500gr Barnes Buster, but I've never seen such a bullet - there's a 400gr sold as a component. Most FN bullets do not have a steel jacket, and would actually mushroom in heavy game - I suspect the Barnes is in this category. This was a problem several hunters who took various .45-70 loads to Africa experienced. The Hornady DGS solid is OK but very long.

For really big stuff, I got Northfork to turn custom 425gr .458 flat nose bore rider copper solids with a .4" crimp groove to nose length. They can be loaded to 2070 ft/s in a modern steel 1886 .45-90. From an application perspective you can use them anywhere a .450/400 NE or .404 Jeffrey solid would be appropriate.

IMG_0404.JPG IMG_0502.JPG I have a 375 Ruger basically same ballistics as H&H I use a 200 grain monometel bullet that is moving at 3213fps it shoots flat and hits hard.
Sorry to say that I have yet to shoot a critter with it due to the fact that I spent this hunting season with 3 different jr hunters who always got first shot at deer.
I did talk to a African PH who uses them in 375H&H he said that the little (if you can call it that) 200 gave him complete pass through on 5 of 7 shots in Cape buffalo.
Top is unfired
Next two are recovered after I shot cinder blocks.
One on left was broadside shot that totally destroyed the block.
The one on the right was dead center on end of block it went through 3 webs leaving 1"+ holes hitting the 4th web it stopped and was laying on ground about a foot to the side still hot to the touch when I got there from 100+ yards away.

By the way being a copper bullet it is actually longer than a Seria Game King that weighs 250gr

GS Custom originally out of South Africa but now have a plant in the US.
My son wanted to use his 22-250 for deer so I called GS Custom gave them make and model of gun they looked up rate of twist and recommended a 40gr bullet which worried me but they said that larger bullets would not stablize in the rifles twist rate. They also assured me that it was more than enough for whitetail deer. Long story short 1st deer he saw he shot at 172 yards bullet went in just behind front shoulder exited just in front of opposite rear leg and on to parts unknown over 22" of penatration without hide.
I expected to find bullet inside but no chance. The 22-250 pushes that 40gr at 4175fps.

Can't wait to see what 375 does. And I have to say that for moving that fast barrel doesn't heat up as much a 300gr at 2500fps.
