Those murdering SOB's used a couple of pounds of black powder in their homemade IED's. Or as the news put it, "easily obtainable" black powder.
I don't want to minimize this in anyway by complaining about their heinous crimes affecting my hobby. I knew it was a black powder explosion as soon as I saw the video. I've been to too many civil war reenactments watching canon batteries fire. It looked almost identical.
I'm sure that the they could have filled up 6" diameter iron pipe with smokeless powder from broken open shotguns shells, sealed it up and gotten a better contained blast than K-Mart pressure cookers and black powder.
That's not going to matter. At some point the villain will stop being the murderer and start being the weapon.
Again, I feel apologetic for even bringing this up when women and children have been killed...excuse me, murdered.
I have enough problems with the constabulary. Guns are one of number of hobbies that consume my time and money. I have a penchant for collecting fast cars and managed to get a ticket last year, OK, a bunch of tickets and a ride in the back of a cruiser. I have the local sheriff's deputy's watching closely. The first warm day when I was in the shop, working on one with the cars with the garage door open, one stopped by just to say hello...
Now I'm sure the ATF or Homeland Security or Seal Team 6 will parachute in to check on my stash of Swiss 3F.
Ok, I openly apologize whining in the face of a terrorist act. My heart goes out to the family and loved ones of those we lost. Maybe this post was totally inappropriate but the whole thing just makes me furious.
